Gilbert Burns will be on the card for UFC 283 PPV in Brazil after all.

ESPN’s Brett Okamota is reporting that former Welterweight title challenter Burns will face Neil Magny at UFC 283.

Originally, it was heavily speculated that Burns will fight Jorge Masvidal at UFC 283. Burns even tweeted that UFC has asked Masvidal for the fight, but Masvidal has rejected it three times. Masvidal then responded that he will not be ready to fight before March due to personal issues and court case with Colby Covington.

Gilbert Burns was last active at UFC 273 where he fought Khamzat Chimaev in a bout that turned out to be a “Fight of the Year” contender. Before that, Durinho defeated Stephen Thompson at UFC 263 in May 2021 after losing a Welterweight title fight to Kamaru Usman at UFC 258.

Neil Magny is 3-2 since the start of 2021 and 2-1 in 2022, with his latest fighting coming against Daniel Rodriguez at Fight Night on November 5 where he Magny got a submission win in third round.

Magny is currently ranked at #12 in welterweight division in UFC Rankings. Burns holds #5 spot.

UFC 283 will take place on January 21, 2023, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The event is currently without a main event, but a flyweight title unification bout is scheduled for the co-main event between Deiveson Figueiredo vs Brandon Moreno. Keep tuned in for more news and updates from the show.
