Da’Mon Blackshear Replaces Cody Garbrandt vs Mario Bautista at UFC 292

Cody Garbrandt will not be participating in his scheduled bout against Mario Bautista. Da’Mon Blackshear has been chosen as a replacement for the August UFC 292 PPV event.

During the UFC Vegas 78 broadcast, it was revealed that Cody Garbrandt had withdrawn from his fight because he sustained an injury during training.

Cody Garbrandt and Mario Bautista were booked in a Bantamweight bout. As a result of Garbrandt’s withdrawal from the fight, BJPENN’s Cole Shelton reported that Da’Mon Blackshear will step in to replace Garbrandt and will now face Bautista.

Blackshear’s recent bout was against Jose Johnson at UFC Vegas 78 event just last Saturday. He won that bout by submission in the fourth minute of the first round. Da’Mon Blackshear’s UFC record includes 2 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw.

This will in Blackshear’s third bout in the space of as many months, and fourth bout this year. Earlier in the year, he lost to Farid Basharat at UFC 285, before beating Luan Lacerda at UFC Vegas 74.

Mario Bautista is currently on a four-fight winning streak. Bautista’s recent fight was against Guido Cannetti UFC Fight Night 221 event, where he won by submission. Bautista also defeated Benito Lopez, Brian Kelleher, and Jay Perrin to maintain his streak.
