Maness is currently on a two-fight losing streak which both came in 2022. He lost to Umar Nurmagomedov in June 2022 before losing to Tagir Ulanbekov in November 2022. He was set to face Zhalgas Zhumagulov at UFC 288, but pulled out due to an injury.
Mendonça, Contender Series 2022 graduate, lost to Javid Basharat in his UFC debut earlier this year in January. This loss brought his undefeated streak in MMA to an end.
UFC Vegas 80 is set to take place on October 7, 2023, at UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Chris Gutierrez vs Montel Jackson bout was recently reported for the card.
