Tim Tszyu and Tony Harrison clashed over interim WBO Super Welterweight World Championship in Sydney on March 11, 2023(March 12 in local time).
This was Tszyu’s second fight to be aired on Showtime in US. The first fight was in March 2022 when he fought at The Armory in Minneapolis to beat Terrell Gausha. That was also the first time he fought outside Australia.
Tsyzu returned to Australia after a year of layoff and fought for an interim title fight against former WBC World Champion Tony Harrison. Was Tszyu able to confirm a title fight and get one step closer to become a World Champion like his father Kostya Tszyu?
Tony Harrison won the WBC title in the same weight class when he beat Jermell Charlo in December 2018 to give him his first and only loss so far. Harrison lost the belt back to Charlo in the rematch one year later. Since then, Harrison has only fought twice – a draw against Bryant Perrella and a win over Sergio García. Was he cause another upset here to win the interim title and set up a trilogy with Charlo?
