David Benavidez defended his Interim WBC Super Middleweight Championship against Caleb Plant in the Showtime PPV headliner. The fight also determined a WBC mandatory challenger for Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, who currently holds Undisputed Super Middleweight titles.

Benavidez is a former two-time WBC Super Middleweight Champion and an undefeated boxer. Since the start of 2021, he had wins over Ronald Ellis, Kyrone Davis and David Lemieux. The win over Lemieux, a third round TKO, earned him the interim WBC title.

Caleb Plant is a former IBF Super Middleweight Champion. He lost the title to Canelo Alvarez in November 2021 in the fight for the Undisputed titles. That remained his only loss in 23 fights career. He had since defeated Anthony Dirrell via ninth-round KO.

The event was presented by Premier Boxing Champions and aired via Showtime as a PPV event. The undercard featured former interim Super Featherweight Champion Chris Colbert, undefeated boxer Cody Crawley taking on former title challenger Abel Ramos, and two more undefeated boxers clashing in Jesus Alejandro Ramos and Joseph Spencer.
