Shinsuke Nakamura vs Roman Reigns for Intercontinental Championship at 18 October 2019 SmackDown episode

Just before the first anniversary of relinquishing the Universal Championship due to Leukemia, Roman Reigns will again be in a title match. He will face Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship at tonight’s episode. One 4 man tag team match and a 6 pack challenge match is announced for the no #1 contender for SmackDown Women’s Championship. You can check the complete preview in the below link.

Shinsuke Nakamura(w/ Sami Zayn) vs Roman Reigns – WWE Intercontinental Championship Match

They lock up and Roman corners Nakamura until stalemate. Nakamura is quick in the second lock up and uses his knee to strike on Roman’s back of the head. Roman gets whipped in the corner but uses a big boot and a back elbow to take control. He slams Naka’s head from one turnbuckle to another. A Samoan drop gets two-count for Reigns. He goes for the driveby but Sami Zayn pulls out Nakamura from the harm’s way. Nakamura gets some strikes as we go to the break.

Nakamura is keeping Reigns down in a headlock. Roman counters with a few elbow to his face. He starts to build some momentum with some clotheslines. Nakamura counters a Superman Punch with a triangle choke but Roman manages to stand up and deliver a powerbomb for a two count. Zayn gets on the apron to provide a distraction so that Nakamura can hit a sliding German suplex. Shinsuke lines up for the Kinshasa but Reigns gets up and hits a Superman Punch for a close two-count. Baron Corbin comes up behind Reigns and hits him with his scepter to cause a disqualification.

Winner- Roman Reigns by Disqualification, Nakamura retains the Championship

Apparently, Corbin was ranting about The Rock making him look like a fool. And this is his way to get some revenge. Corbin gets into the ring and hits a Deep Six on Roman. Nakamura was also looking to continue with the attack but Daniel Bryan came out to make the save. After Bryan clears the ring, Zayn grabs his leg to keep him in the corner and allows Nakamura to hit a Kinshasa on him. The heels made their way to the back slowly.

Backstage, Tucker of Heavy Machinery comes to meet The New Day and talks about being on the same page for tonight’s eight-man tag team match despite both team in the World Cup at Crown Jewel. Otis comes in with a special pancake mix, with extra protein. New Day tells him that they don’t have time to cook because the match is soon. He starts drinking the pancake mix from the bowl as we go back to commercial.

Back from the break and Kayla Braxton stops Baron Corbin backstage for comments on what just happened. He puts his crown on and just walks off. We go the ring and Shorty Gable is making his way to the ring.
