Dream, Black and Ricochet wins the Halftime Heat match

Halftime Heat Match

The team of Aleister Black, Ricochet, and Velveteen Dream defeated the team of Adam Cole, NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano, and NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa in a highly entertaining match at the Halftime Heat Show which was streamed live from WWE performance center.

The match was set up between these 6 superstars due to a brawl involving them which broke out after the NXT Takeover: Pheonix event on 26th January. The match was then announced on the following night at the Royal Rumble kick off show by Shawn Michaels who was also on the commentary team for this match along with Viv Joseph. This was just the second Halftime Heat match, 20 years after the first one between Mankind and the Rock for the WWE Championship in 1999.

To say that the match was awesome would be an understatement itself. There were plenty of excellent maneuvers, team moves and finishers which kept the crowd on the edge of their seats throughout. None of the teams had large periods of dominations also and every superstar worked tirelessly in the match to showcase the quality of NXT. In the end, however, Black and Dream were able to take out Ciampa and Gargano and hit Cole with their finishers to win the match.

The match has further cemented the status of Velveteen Dream as the next big star of NXT after he won the Worlds Collide Tournament streamed on Saturday. You can find full results from the Worlds Collide Tournament here.
