WWE SmackDown May 19, 2023 episode was live from Columbia, SC, and we were here with the complete results and live updates just days before Night of Champions 2023 event.

Roman Reigns appeared on back-to-back SmackDown episodes as he and Solo Sikoa came face-to-face with Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in another chapter of their storyline with the Bloodline. The Usos were in action in a separate match as they take on LWO’s Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar.

Two more tag team matches were announced for the show. Pretty Deadly made their Smackdown in-ring debut against The Brawling Brutes’ Butch and Ridge Holland. LA Knight had teamed up with Rick Boogs to take on the Street Profits.

Grayson Waller Effect talk show segment made its debut with AJ Styles as the special guest as he prepares for the inaugural World Heavyweight Championship match. Reigns-Solo & Sami-Owens Face Off

Roman Reigns comes out to the ring with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman. Roman asks for a mic amid the chants of “You suck” from the crowd. Roman says thats not how we start things and they turn into cheers when he asks them to acknowledge him. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn come out with the belts. Roman says this was always his plan as they are just two things for Owens and Sami to do – first is to acknowledge him and then dropping off the titles and go back. Sami and Owens stare them down for a while before Owens gets ready to fight but stops when Solo steps up.

Roman says he has had a great career so far and he just has one regret in wasting his time on Sami. Sami says his regret is why he did not smack him with that chair at him sooner. Sami says they have not come in the same ring since Elimination Chambers he has been dreaming about it for months and Roman’s greed has taken him here. Sami then tells Roman that he is not gonna take the tag titles as Roman and Sami are not good as them, and not even as good as The Usos.

Roman starts to counter but The Usos attack them from behind. Solo and Roman do not get involved as The Usos drop Owens and Sami. Roman gets mad at them and says this is his ring and he never asked them to do anything.


Roman is arguing with The Usos backstage and says he had something to say to Sami because he had wasted precious time with Sami. He says he is the one to make these calls and not The Usos. He screams at them to leave the room.

Pretty Deadly(Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) vs The Brawling Brutes(Butch & Ridge Holland)

The Brawling Brutes come out first. Pretty Deadly get a vignette where they are in a kitchen and they tell us the recipe of making a delicious tag team in. They make their entrance. Butch and Wilson start the match. Butch hits a dropkick after they run the ropes. Wilson slams Butch to the mat before Prince tags in. Double team on Butch before he stomps on their hands. Butch sends Prince to his corner to hit a corner splash. Butch hits a dropkick. Holland comes in and hits a delayed vertical suplex on Prince. After a blind tag, Pretty Deadly counter with a double team move. We cut to a break.

Pretty Deadly are still in control. Holland goes for a double tackle but Pretty Deadly hits back with their tackle to drop him. Prince hits big shots on Holland after bringing him down. Ridge hits a back body drop but Wilson tags in and stops the tag. Holland overpowers and tags in Butch. Butch drops both opponents with quick moves which includes enzuigiris, dropkicks and a back body drops. Butch sets up Wilson to the top rope.

Holland tags in and gets both opponents on his shoulder before slamming them to the mat at the same time. Butch takes Prince while Holland takes Wilson to hit 10 beats of battering. Wilson takcles Holland into the corner and Butch is knocked off the top. Pretty Deadly hit Spilled Milk to get the pinfall.

Winners – Pretty Deadly

We get a video package for Billy Graham who passed away earlier this week.

Asuka vs Zelina Vega

Asuka makes her entrance first. Zelina Vega is interviewed at the Gorilla position where she brings up the reception she received at Backlash in Puerto Rico. Vega makes her entrance. The match begins and Vega ducks Asuka’s punch to rolls her up for a two-count. Asuka kicks her away to the ropes. Vega takes a shot before rolling her up once again. Vega sends Asuka to the ropes. Asuka avoids 619 and slips to the floor. Asuka gets Vega on her shoulder when she comes out and drops her on the announce table.

Asuka is in control as we return. Vega blocks a kick and starts nailing elbow shots. Asuka sends her to the corner and blocks a knee. Vega kicks her away and hits a dropkick. She sets up and hits 619 this time. Vega goes to the top and hits Meteora after paying homage to Eddie Guerrero to get a near fall. Asuka blocks Code Red but Vega gets a couple of innovative pin attempts. Asuka goes for a rear naked choke but Vega rolls over for another pin attempt. Asuka hits a running knee and puts on Rings of Saturn Asuka Lock on Vega. Vega taps out.

Winner – Asuka

Asuka keeps the lock after the match also. RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair runs out to make the save. Asuka spits Green mist on her from the floor as Bianca tries to pull her in. She did not catch Bianca with much though.


We get a hype video for World Heavyweight Championship Tournament final at Night of Champions.

Grayson Waller Effect with AJ Styles

The ring is set for Grayson Waller Effect. Waller is in the ring and he immediately brings out AJ Styles. Waller brings up their earlier encounter in NXT and what AJ said about grinding and working hard. AJ says this was the longest time he has been out and so, when he got cleared, there was no one else training as hard as him. Now, he wants to become the World Heavyweight Championship. AJ brings up Seth Rollins shooting for a movie and he expects Rollins to be training a bit. Waller says he gets goosebumps just thinking about Rollins vs Styles. He goes on to do the mock announcement where he announces Seth Rollins as the winner. AJ and Waller face-off for a while before the segment ends.


LWO are backstage and they discuss their match against The Usos. Rey Mysteiro says The Usos are one of the best tag team of all time. Santos Escobar says they need to show the world how good they are.

LA Knight & Rick Boogs vs The Street Profits(Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)

Ford starts with a clothesline but Boogs no-sells them. Boogs catches Ford in a crossbody and then does military press a few times. Ford slips out and Boogs screams to boog it up. Dawkins tags in and puts on a side headlock. Boogs gets him off his feet before Dawkins runs the ropes to run into a shoulder tackle. Boogs does bicep curls with Dawkins. Knight tags in for a double team shoulder tackle. Dawkins hits a jawbreaker before Knight hits back with a body slam and a jumping elbow to get a two-count.

Boogs tags back in. Dawkins slips off a double team and tags in Ford. Ford hits a crossbody from the top rope on both opponents. He hits a dropkick on Knight before a series of enzuigiris on Boogs. Knight is hit with a back body drop to be sent on the apron. Boogs is sent into Knight to knock him off. Ford hits a suicide dive on both men on the floor. He quickly brings Boogs back into the ring and hits a frog splash to the pinfall.

Winners – The Street Profits

LA Knight picks up Boogs after the match and hits him with BFT.


We get a recap of Cameron Grimes beating Baron Corbin in seconds in their match last week. Grimes is interviewed backstage where he is asked about his win. Grimes says he would not have believed if he was told that he has one of the quickest wins on SmackDown. Grimes says he wants go to the Moon as usual.


Karrion Kross is backstage with Scarlett and says he is a threat to justice. Scarlett reveals AJ Styles tarot card to reveal Kross’ next target.


We get a recap of Cody Rhodes’ promo from RAW earlier this week where Cody said Brock was not the next big thing, and was just in Cody’s way.

Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre vs Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon

Fyre starts against Leon and brings her down to the mat. She follows up with big shots before getting Dawn in. Dawn hits a meteora on Leon. Leon runs to her corner to tag in Feroz but she can not get out before Dawn nails a roundhouse kick to her face. Dawn hits a big kick before Fyre comes back in to hit their double team finisher to get the pinfall.

Winners – Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre

Liv Morgan’s injury has led to Liv and Raquel Rodriguez vacating the titles. A fatal 4-way match is announced for the vacant titles in two weeks on RAW. Raquel will need to find a new partner to face Damage CTRL, Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green and Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. Raquel in interviewed backstage and gives huge props to Liv Morgan to pull through the match despite the injury. Bayey and Iyo Sky come in and Bayley tells her to find a partner next week to face them.


United States Champion Austin Theory comes out to the ring. He brings up being ganged up by two former World Champions in Bobby Lashley and Sheamus. Theory says he understands that Lashley has an obsession with him as he has now followed him to SmackDown now but he does not understands what’s up with Sheamus. Theory says he and Sheamus have so much in common as they have both held United States Champions, and they have both beaten John Cena. Theory takes a shot at Sheamus saying that Sheamus beat Cena a decade ago. Sheamus comes out to the ring and takes a mic. Sheamus hits a Brogue kick out of nowhere to drop Theory and then does a mic drop.


Paul Heyman joins The Usos backstage and tells them that he has got things under control and The Tribal Chief forgives them. The Usos ask if Roman will be out for their match. Heyman says Roman is busy with 1000 days celebration for his Universal Championship and The Usos should easily take care of LWO, and wants them to make it a spoiler.

The Usos(Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) vs LWO(Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar)

Rey starts against Jey. Jey tackles Rey to their corner. Jimmy tags in and drops Rey with a big shot. Jimmy drops Rey once again before Rey slips out of Samoa Drop. Rey hits a big boot before Escobar tags in. The Usos are pushed to the floor with double team action. Escobar picks up Rey on his shoulder to take us to a break.

Escobar is trying to fight back against Jimmy as we return. He hits some quick shots but Jimmy blocks a tag. Jey takes a cheap shot at Escobar after Jimmy whips him to his corner. Jimmy rolls up Escobar for a two-count. Jimmy hits more shots at Escobar in the corner followed by a big chop. He comes out of the corner with a dropkick. Jey gets the tag and nails Rey with a punch on the apron. Escobar rolls up Jey for a two-count. Jey nails an uppercut to drop Escobar.

Escobar blocks Jey’s punches before Jey blocks his move with a big shot. Jimmy tags in and hits some punches in the corner. Jimmy hits a hip attack in the corner. Escobar comes out of the corner with a running knee. Rey and Jey get the tags. Rey hits quick punches before a hurricanrana. He hits a seated senton before a springboard crossbody to get a two-count. Jey hits back with a thrust kick before Rey counters with his own kick and Code Red to get a two-count.

Rey hits a big boot but Jimmy hits him with an enzuigiri from outside. Jey hits a neckbreaker to get a near fall. Jimmy tags in as The Usos go for a double suplex. Rey hits fights out of it with knee strikes. Rey uses a low bridge to send The Usos to the floor. Escobar tags in and hits a suicide dive. He takes Jimmy back to the ring to hit a pump kick. He follows up with another knee and then takes Jimmy off the top rope with a hurricanrana.

Escobar waits for Jimmy to get up before he hits a knee on the ropes. Rey tags in and hits a leg drop with Jimmy on the second rope. Jey breaks the pinfall. Jey superkicks Escobar to knock him off the apron. Rey sets up Jimmy for 619 but Jimmy nails a superkick. Jey hits the splash from the top but Rey kicks out of the pin. Kevin Owens comes out to distract Jimmy, allowing Escobar to nail him with an enzuigiri. Sami pushes Jey off the top on the other side. Rey hits 619 on Jimmy before Escobar hits a frog splash to get the pinfall.

Winners – LWO

Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa are watching all of this from backstage. Solo gets up but Roman stops him. The show goes off the air.
