Wes Lee v Joe Gacy v Tyler Bate Set for NXT Battleground 2023
Another title match is added to NXT Battleground 2023 event as Wes Lee is set to defend North American Championship in a triple threat match.
Tyler Bate helped out Wes Lee in his rivalry against Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey. Bate and Lee were supposed take on The Dyad this week on NXT episode(May 16). However, The Dyad attacked the duo at the start of the show.
Joe Gacy accompanied Dyad and told Lee that Bate is not his true friend. Bate was injured to the extent that the tag team match was canceled. Wes Lee came out to the ring to address the attack and called out Gacy and Schism for spewing hate while keep talking about friendship.
Gacy came out tried to prove Bate was not Lee’s real friend and said he was never dishonest in his title aspirations but Bate was. Bate also came out to respond and cleared to Lee that he wanted a title shot but that was not the reason for his association with Lee and he was his real friend.
Lee could not believe this and announced that he would defend the title against both Gacy and Bate at Battleground 2023.
NXT Battleground takes place on May 28, 2023, at Tsongas Center in Lowell, MA.
