Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is set to appear on WWE SmackDown January 20, 2023 episode.

The Tribal Chief is set to defend his title against Kevin Owens at Royal Rumble 2023 event in two weeks. Owens and Reigns will sit down in the ring for a contract-signing segment.

This week, Owens faced Sami Zayn in a singles match which ended in a disqualification when The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa and The Usos attacked Owens. Solo ended up putting Owens through a table with a running splash. Sami Zayn looked confused about why The Bloodline attacked Owens when he was in control of the match, as well as conflicted due to his former friend Owens going through the ordeal. What will happen during next week’s segment?

A tag title tournament will also start on January 20 episode to determine the #1 contender for SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Drew McIntyre and Sheamus will face The Viking Raiders in the first match of the tournament.

Last week, McIntyre and Sheamus were defeated by The Usos in Undisputed Tag Team Championship match after interference from Solo Sikoa. The Viking Raiders later attacked the team as SmackDown went off the air.

Sheamus and McIntyre went to Adam Pearce on SmackDown this week. McIntyre asked for a match against The Viking Raiders while Sheamus wanted a rematch with The Usos. Pearce revealed the tournament plan to them and said they can face The Viking Raiders in the first match of the tournament. Rest of the teams and matches are not revealed as of now.

January 20, 2023 edition of WWE SmackDown will air from Little Ceaser’s Arena in Detroit, MI. Check here for the tickets for all upcoming WWE events.
