NXT Results & Updates- 26 June 2019- Baszler-Shirai in Steel Cage Match

Welcome to the Results and Updates Blog for NXT Episode of 26 June 2019. This is a pre-taped episode

• A recap of Shayna Baszler-Io Shirai storyline to open the show. They will fight inside the steel cage at the main event.
• Angel Garza defeated Jaoquin Wilde via pinfall to advance to the second round of the Breakout Tournament. Garza offered a hand and used it to land a cheap shot early in the match. After a tilt-a-whirl, Wilde sexily ripped off his pants to reveal his trunks. With some good back and forth action, the end came when Wilde tried to roll up Garza but he recovered to hit a butterfly stunner.

• A hype video for Kushida where he is excited to find out who his new opponents in NXT will be. He’s here because the best are here, and he’s going to prove he’s the best.
• An interviewer tried to catch up with Damien Priest after his win last week, but Priest sends him away.
• Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins spend some time celebrating with the crowd as they enter the Full Sail for the first time since becoming the NXT Tag Team Champions.
• NXT Tag Team Champions Street Profits defeated Forgotten Sons via disqualification in a non-title tag team match. Montez was isolated by the Sons to start the match. Profits took back the advantage but Ryker pulled out Montez when he went for the pin.
• This started a brawl where the Forgotten Sons took the upper hand. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch made the save. While handing back the titles to Street Profits, they told them that they want a title shot.

• Aliyah and Vanessa Borne were mocking Mia Yim’s life story video that aired last week. They say it was touching, but they can’t relate to it. Mia Yim will face Aliyah in a singles match next week.
• Keith Lee defeated Nykos Rikos by pinfall following the Limit Breaker in a squash match.
• NXT Champion Adam Cole’s celebration tour is shown. He takes a private jet back and forth to Download Fest. When he gets back, he calls Rodrick Strong from the limo to confirm some order. He reaches Gargano’s and heads inside the shop. Tune in next week for more.
• Shayna Baszler defeated Io Shirai to retain the NXT Women’s Championship title in a steel cage match. After trading the control back and forth, Io hit the German suplex from the top rope and was looking to escape the cage. But Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir ran down to shut the cage door. Candice LeRae came and took out Shafir. She climbed the cage and Duke took her moonsault. As Baszler tried to escape through the door, Shirai slammed the door on her. But she still falls out to win the match.
• Champ was helped by her allies to return as Io Shirai snapped on Candice. After a forearm, she grabbed a chair and went on to demolish her. She dropped Candice on the chair with a vertical suplex as the crowd started booing her.
