NJPW Announced 51st Anniversary Event & New Japan Cup 2023

New Japan Pro Wrestling made two major announcements. 

The promotion revealed that the 2023 edition of the New Japan Cup would begin on March 5, 2023. It will be an elimination tournament that will run till March 21, 2023. 

Not only that, but the promotion also revealed that the 51st-anniversary event of NJPW would take place on March 6, 2023, in Ota, the place where everything began. 

The madness of March is nearly here!

The winner of the New Japan Cup will get a shot against the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. NJPW will reveal the participants of this tournament very soon. 

Last year, Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Tatsuya Naito in the finals to win the 2022 edition of the New Japan Cup. However, later Zack failed to win the title. 

Currently, Kazuchika Okada holds the IWGP Heavyweight title. He won the belt by defeating Jay White at Wrestle Kingdom 17. So, it won’t be easy for anyone to dethrone the Rainmaker from the top of the mountain.
