Ronda Rousey has got another chance to win SmackDown Women’s Championship from Liv Morgan.
The Baddest Woman on the Planet has won the #1 contender fatal 5-way elimination match this week on SmackDown to become the #1 contender to face Morgan at WWE Extreme Rules 2022.
Ronda Rousey was the reigning champion until Money in the Bank event earlier this year. Liv Morgan won the Money in the Bank briefcase on that night and decided to cash it within hours to challenge Ronda for the title. Ronda had successfully defended the title against Natalya, but got her arm injured during the match. Morgan was able to capitalize on it and got a win with a roll-up.
An enraged Ronda then got a rematch at SummerSlam. But, she fell to a misunderstanding when she thought Morgan had tapped out in armbar. As Ronda let go, Morgan was able to roll-up Ronda to get another win over her. Ronda attacked the referee in the aftermath and got suspended.
Morgan then went on to face and defend the title against Shayna Baszler at Clash at the Castle event. Ronda’s suspension was lifted last week, but then she went on to attack WWE Official Adam Pearce. It remains to be seen if WWE takes more disciplinary action against Ronda now.
WWE Extreme Rules 2022 will air on October 8 from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. This is the first match to be confirmed for the show, which is expected to be the last one in Extreme Rules series. Keep tuned in for more news and updates.
