Ambulance Match Stipulation Added to Clash of Champions
The WWE Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton at Clash of Champions 2020 will now be an Ambulance match.
Randy Orton earlier became the #1 contender by defeating Seth Rollins & Keith Lee in a triple threat match two weeks back on RAW. This got his the WWE Championship match against Drew McIntyre at Clash of Champions. Orton had already lost a WWE title match against McIntyre at SummerSlam.
A week prior to that, Orton attacked McIntyre on multiple occasions to hit him with punt kicks and left him with a minor Jaw fracture. Last week on RAW, Drew McIntyre replied in brutal fashion and hit Orton with Claymore kicks on three different occasions.
McIntyre opened RAW this week and mentioned how both he and Orton have had sent each other to hospitals. McIntyre then proposed that their match at Clash of Champions be changed to an Ambulance match. McIntyre also mentioned that the medical team has warned him that any major blow to the jaw would result in a major injury and a possible time out.
WWE Producer Adam Pearce reminded McIntyre of his jaw fracture once again while also announcing another twist for Clash of Champions. Pearce announced if Orton would be unable to get fit until Clash of Champions, Keith Lee might replace him, provided Lee defeats McIntyre on RAW last night.
Throughout the show last night, Lee and McIntyre were at odds and were involved in multiple brawls backstage. However, their match was interrupted by an attack from RETRIBUTION. With no result in that match, it seems unlikely that Lee will get the title match soon.
The Ambulance Match stipulation was later confirmed by WWE via social media handles and their website. 4 matches are currently announced for WWE Clash of Champions PPV which airs on 27 September 2020.
