Welcome to the live results blog for AEW Dynamite episode of January 25, 2023, which featured a match in memory of Joe Briscoe.

Mark Briscoe faced Jay Lethal in a match that Tony Khan described as celebrating life and legacy of Jay Briscoe who died in an unfateful car accident last week. This was also Mark Briscoe’s first AEW appearance.

Bryan Danielson took on Brian Cage in his next challenge in order to become the #1 contender for AEW World Championship. Darby Allin defended AEW TNT Championship against Bubby Mathews from House of Black.

Toni Storm took on Ruby Soho in a singles match. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara teamed up to take on Ricky Starks and Action Andretti. Jungle Boy and Hook took on Ethan Page and Matt Hardy in another tag team match.

The Gunn Club and AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed joined Billy Gunn for a Family Therapy session. Tune in below as we post results from AEW Dynamite January 25, 2023 episode with live updates, winners and highlights.

LIVE UPDATES

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara team vs Ricky Starks & Action Andretti

Jericho Appreciation Society is halfway in its entrance as the show opens. Jericho and Sammy rip off their black shorts to show up red gear underneath. Action Andretti and Ricky Starks come out seconds later. Sammy goes for a superkick but Andretti catches his kick. Quick back-and-forth action as both men dodge each other’s attacks. They come to a stalemate.

Sammy hits a superkick after feinting a handshake. Sammy hits a big chop in the corner. They run the ropes and Andretti hits a hurricanrana to send Sammy to the floor. Andretti hits a dropkick on the apron to knock him off once more. Sammy comes back with a corkscrew dropkick to send AA to the floor. AA avoids a suicide dive. Garcia saves Sammy from a dive from Andretti. Sammy quickly hits Andretti with a tope suicida.

Back to the ring, Andretti lands on his feet on a superplex. AA hits a Spanish fly before Ricky and Jericho tag in. They trade chops before Ricky takes Jericho to the corner to unload. Ricky walks on the ropes for Old School but Sammy cuts him off with a cutter from the top rope. We cut to a break.

Andretti gets a hot tag as we return and hits backbreaker and neckbreaker combos on both opponents. He hits tope suicida on both Jericho and Sammy one by one. He takes Sammy back to the ring for a tornado DDT and senton. They collide in the middle in a crossbody after running off the ropes.

Tags to Starks and Jericho. Jericho ducks a clothesline but he eats a spear. Sammy breaks the pin. Jericho rolls up Ricky for a near fall. Ricky hits a Liger bomb on Jericho for a near fall. Andretti hits Jericho with a springboard senton and a gamengiri. Jericho gets his knees up on a moonsault. Sammy tags in and hits AA with a jumping knee. AA comes back with an enzuigiri. Jericho stops him from a follow-up.

Ricky pulls Jericho down from the apron. Andretti hits a hanging neckbreaker on Sammy for a two-count. Ricky hits Roshambo on Jericho on the floor. Andretti was going for a move when Garcia hits him with a baseball bat. Sammy hits GTH on Andretti to get the pinfall.

We get a special video package in memory of Jay Briscoe.

Darby Allin(c) vs Buddy Mathews – AEW TNT Championship

Mathews has face paint on one-half of his face. He hits a jumping knee to start after Julia briefly distracted Darby. Mathews throws him around on the floor. Mathews goes for a penalty kick from the apron but Darby catches his leg. Darby goes for a suicide dive but Mathews catches him and drops him on the floor.

Mathews swings him into the barricade. Darby counters with a hurricanrana to send Mathews into the barricade. Darby gets to the apron but Mathews pulls the apron cloth from underneath his feet. Mathews drops Darby on the apron now. Mathews hits a body slam in the ring. Darby fights back with elbows. Mathews leaves to the floor and Darby hits a Coffin Drop.

The lights go off and Malakai Black and Brody King are on the ramp when they come back. Ortiz runs out to hit them with kendo sticks. Sting attacks them with a baseball bat. Mathews hits Darby with a Liger Bomb to get a near fall. We cut to a break.

Quick action continues as we return. Darby hits a DDT. Mathews rolls to the floor and Darby drives him into the barricade. Back to the ring, Darby goes for a crossbody but Mathews rolls him over. Darby hits a crucifix bomb for a near fall. Both men get to their feet and trade strikes. Mathews hits a knee strike, a buckle bomb and a curb stomp for a near fall.

Darby rolls up to counter a pumphandle slam. Darby hits Code Red for another near fall. Mathews trips him on the top turnbuckle. Mathews hits a chop. Darby blocks a superplex and then counters it into a Scorpion Death Drop from the top rope. Mathews kicks out after the referee delays the count due to his feet being under the ropes. Darby sets him up on the middle rope and hits a Coffin drop to get the pinfall.

Winner – Darby Allin

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to interview Darby. Tony asks him about his title run so far. Samoa Joe interrupts him as he appears on the big screen. Joe says he is the true king of TV and he is coming back to take away everything from Darby.


We get a video package for Adam Cole where he talks about the day he returned to Dynamite. He says he is working his way back to the ring. That day is not here right now, but he promises that day is coming soon.

JungleHook(Jungle Boy Jack Perry & Hook) vs The Firm(Ethan Page & Matt Hardy)

Matt Hardy comes out as his music hits. Ethan Page gets it cut off and wants his music to be hit. Page says he does not hate Hardy and has even given back him his Twist of Fate. Isiah Kassidy shows some defiance when asked to put on a chain by Stokely Hathaway. Jungle Boy and Hook also make their entrance.

Page starts against Perry and Perry takes the initial advantage with quick moves. Hardy tags in and Hook also comes in as both teams face off. Page and Hook go to the floor while Hardy and Perry fight in the ring. Hook’s T-Bone is blocked before Jungle Boy saves him by hitting a suicide dive. Hardy drops Perry as he comes back to the ring. Page and Hardy hit a double-team suplex as we cut to a break.

Hardy hits an elbow on Perry as we return. Perry fights back with a kick on Page and fights off Hardy to tag in Hook. Hook hits an Al-Camino on Page before knocking off Hardy from the apron. He hits T-Bone on Page. Page sends Hook to the apron and Hardy pulls him off it. Hardy drives Hook in the barricade.

Page avoids a suplex from Perry and tags in Hardy. Hardy drops Perry and sets up for Twist of Fate but Page orders him to tag. Hardy reluctantly tags and Perry counters to put Page in the snare trap. Hook pulls Hardy from the corner and sends him into the barricade. Page taps out in the ring.

Winners – JungleHook

We get a Family Therapy session with The Acclaimed, The Gunn Club and Billy Gunn. The Gunn Club says Gunn was supposed to be by their side and they should have the tag team titles. The Acclaimed reply that they are just better than The Gunn Club. Billy Gunn asks The Gunn Club what they want. The Gunn Club says they want the tag team titles around their waist.


Adam Page is interviewed backstage. Page says he wants to knock out Jon Moxley in his hometown next week. Wheeler Yuta interrupts him and says Page is running his mouth against a guy who is not cleared yet. Yuta challenges Page for a match on Rampage this week that Page accepts.

Bryan Danielson vs Brian Cage

Cage overpowers Bryan and slams him to the mat. They go for show of strength and Bryan changes it to go after his leg. Bryan hits a calf kick. Cage puts him into the corner to hit a chop. Bryan turns it around and unloads with a flurry of strikes. Bryan hits hammer elbows on his neck. Cage gets him in fireman’s carry before Bryan slips out and puts on a crossface. Cage drags his feet to the ropes to break.

Cage slips to the floor and Bryan hits him with suicide dives twice. He hits a crossbody from the top rope. Back to the ring, Cage ducks a move from the top and hits him with press slam to dump him into the corner. Cage hits big kick and German suplex next. Cage drops him on the apron to take us to a break.

Cage has Bryan in a bear hug as we return. Bryan hits him with headbutts to break free. He hits a sidekicks before Cage catches his moonsault to hit a brainbuster. Cage hits suplex after pulling Bryan from the apron. Cage hits a German suplex from the second rope now. Cage hits a kick to the face against the turnbuckle. He goes for a powerbomb from the second rope but Bryan fights back.

Byran hits a dropkick to his face on the top rope before hitting a superplex. Bryan hits Yes! kicks and even completes the final roundhouse kick. Cage tries to switch to an arm triangle but Bryan puts on an ankle lock. Cage breaks it and they trade strikes. Cage hits a buckle bomb and powerbomb, before Bryan rolls him over and hits a gets a pinfall with school boy pin.

Winner – Bryan Danielson

Cage attacks Bryan after the match and drops him with Razor’s Edge. MJF walks out and pushes away the timekeeper and bellman at ringside. MJF joins Cage in attacking Bryan. MJF sets up a chair on Bryan’s arm but Konosuke Takeshita runs out to make the save. MJF and Cage get out of the ring immediately.

After the break, we get an update on Bryan Danielson’s injury and the doctor says some partial tear on Bryan’s shoulder. Bryan asks him if he can wrestle. The doctor does not give him any answer but Bryan screams that nobody could stop him from fighting for 60 minutes with a bad shoulder and nobody is stopping him now. Bryan says MJF has fear in his eyes since he knows Bryan can beat him.

Ruby Soho vs Toni Storm

We get promos from both Toni Storm and Ruby Soho in the small screens during their entrances. Toni moves to the floor after losing the initial back-and-forth. Toni slams Ruby’s face to the mat as she returns to the ring. They trade forearm shots before Toni hit a high boot. Ruby counters with elbows shots and chops.

Toni sends her to the apron, rakes her eyes and drops her off with a hip attack. Toni hits a chop on the floor before driving Ruby into the ring post and then into the barricade. We cut to a break.

We return to see Ruby slamming Toni’s face into the turnbuckle. She hits a Saito suplex a couple of times before some kick and a back heel trip. Toni blocks Destination Unknown and rolls her up for a two-count. Ruby hits No Future Kick for a near fall. Ruby goes to the top now but Toni moves away from the move. Ruby hits her with a knee to her nose.

Toni says she is injured her nose. Toni was just luring her in to drive her into the ropes. Toni hits a hip attack and a DDT for a near fall. Toni was going for a powerbomb when Britt Baker’s music hits and she comes out to the stage. Ruby Soho hits Toni with Destination Unknown to get the pinfall.

Winner – Ruby Soho

MJF cuts a promo from backstage. After the promo, he informs that Bryan has put out an open contract for a match next week. So, MJF has brought in Timothy Thatcher who loves to hurt people.

Mark Briscoe vs Jay Lethal

Jay Lethal is almost in tears as they start with handshakes. Mark starts with a takedown from a side headlock. They lock up again and Mark twists Lethal’s arm. Mark hits an arm drag when Lethal tries to counter. A scoop slam from Mark before they come to a stalemate. Lethal puts Mark to the corner for a big chop. Mark also hits back with chops to start a trade of chops.

Mark hits a lariat and a snap mare. Mark nails his signature punch. Lethal hits a dropkick to come back into the match. Mark breaks out of an arm twist and hits a neckbreaker. We cut to a break.

Mark fights out of a hold and sends Lethal into the corner. A clothesline follows before Mark drops Lethal once again. Mark hits his signature uppercut before hitting a knife-edge chop to his head from the top rope. Mark hits an overhead kick before putting hitting another uppercut by putting him on the top. Briscoes looks for Jay Driller but Lethal blocks it.

Mark hits open hand chops on his back. Lethal hits him with a backbreaker. Lethal hits a kick to midsection before an enzuigiri. Lethal hits Lethal Injection but Mark rolls to the floor. Lethal sets up a table and goes to the top but Mark gets up and knocks him to the floor. Mark hits dropkick through the ropes before hitting a blockbuster from the apron. Mark hits Froggy Bow to put Lethal through the table.

Mark brings Lethal back to the ring but Lethal recovers to kick out of the pin. Lethal counters Jay Driller with a back body drop bridge for a two-count. Mark counters a Lethal Injection with a lariat. Lethal comes out of Jay Driller once again but Mark hits another lariat. Mark hits Jay Driller to get the pinfall.

Winner – Mark Briscoe

Mark gives his love to his late brother in the camera. Several locker room members fill the stage in Jay Briscoe’s honor as Mark and Lethal hug in the ring. The show goes off the air.
