Adam Cole has his contract with WWE ending in August as per the latest report from Wrestling Inc as the speculations for his future in and outside WWE continues.
PWInsider earlier reporting that Adam Cole, the Velveteen Dream and Io Shirai are being discussed to be called up to the main roster. Dominik Dijakovic and Chelsea Green are already mooted for RAW it seems and NXT is likely to be drained of more stars other than these 5 stars.
As per Wrestling Inc, the call-up for Cole is coming due to his contract situation apparently. The current NXT Champion has not signed a new deal to extend his stay with the company after August. The website is also speculating that AEW would be interested in him due to his association with Bullet Club alongside AEW stars Kenny Omega, Adam Page and The Young Bucks.
Adding to this, Wrestling Inc also wrote that if Cole re-signs with WWE for significantly more money, it’s likely that he will get called to the main roster by the fall. And if he does not come to terms with WWE and his contract expires, he would be a free agent just in time for AEW All Out 2020 PPV.
Adam Cole has been with WWE NXT since 2017. Since then, he has been one of the top stars with the brand, participating in all the WarGames match, becoming the inaugural NXT North American Champion at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans 2018, and then NXT Champion at TakeOver: XXV last year in June. He has been the champion ever since and became the longest reigning NXT Champion in the process.
Adam Cole is set to face The Velveteen Dream for the NXT Championship in a Backlot Brawl match at NXT TakeOver: In Your House 2020 PPV this Sunday.
