UFC 285: Julio Arce Injured, Bout Against Cody Garbrandt Canceled

Cody Garbrandt vs Julio Arce ufc 285

UFC 285 PPV has a bout canceled from the prelims as Julio Arce got injured.

Arce was supposed to face Cody Garbrandt in a bantamweight bout in the prelims of UFC 285. Eurosport’s Marcel Dorff is reporting that Arce is now injured and is removed from the card. The exact nature of the injury remains unknown.

UFC 285 is set for March 5, 2023, in Las Vegas, NV. With more than a month still to go, it remains to be seen if Garbrandt remains on the card, gets a new opponent or if the bout against Arce itself gets pushed to a later date.

Both Arce and Garbrandt are in need of a win after failing to lose their last bouts. Arce has 2 wins and 2 losses since the start of 2021 and lost to Montel Jackson the last time he was in the octagon.

Garbrandt has won just one in his last six outings when he defeated Raphael Assunção at UFC 250. Garbrandt did not fight even once in 2022 as his fight against Rani Yahya was canceled twice due to an injury to Yayha. Garbrandt himself got injured later in September to put him out of contention.

UFC 285 will be headlined by a pair of title bouts. Jon Jones returns in the main event to face Ciryl Gane for the vacant Heavyweight title. The co-main event bout will be Valentina Shevchenko’s next flyweight title defense against Alexa Grasso.
