UFC 280: Oliveira vs Makhachev Card, Date, Time, Location, Tickets
UFC 280 event will see UFC returning to UAE after a year. The event is scheduled to take place on October 22, 2022 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and will be part of Showdown Week.
Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev will clash over the Lightweight title in the main event. Aljamain Sterling will defend Bantamweight title against TJ Dillashaw in the co-main event.

October 21, 2022: Both Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev made weight successfully to make the main event official. Katlyn Chookagian missed weight for her flyweight bout by 1.5 lbs. Her bout will proceed at catchweight. Check the complete weigh-in results here.

October 20, 2022: Beniel Dariush said on Media Day that he won’t be bothered much if does not get a title shot after a win at UFC 280.
“I’ve done everything I needed to do, and if I win this fight – Lord willing, I do – I’ve got nothing left to prove. So if they want to give me the title shot, great. October 20, 2022: Charles Oliveira claimed on Media Day that he will knockout Islam Makhachev in the first round itself.

October 19, 2022: Islam Makhachev said in the press conference that he believes it is his moment.

October 19, 2022: Charles Oliveira revealed that he will get PPV points for this event despite not entering the event as the champion.
October 18, 2022: Magomed Mustafaev vs Yamato Nishikawa bout was removed from the early prelims due to Nishikawa’s contract issue with his previous promotion.
October 17, 2022: The broadcast team was revealed for the event. Paul Fedler, Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier are on the commentary with Megan Olivi working as the roving reporter and Bruce Buffer working as the ring announcer.
October 16, 2022: Islam Makhachev’s manager Ali Abdelaziz said they are recognizing Charles Oliveira as the Lightweight Champion and will try to take the title away from him.

October 15, 2022: Charles Oliveira said that he will shock the world in his fight against Islam Makhachev.

October 14, 2022: Sean O’Malley joked about confusion on UFC 280 main event backup fighter and tweeted that he is also a backup fighter for Oliveira vs Makhachev fight.
October 12, 2022: Khabib Nurmagomedov told UFC Russia that Islam Makhachev will defeat Charles Oliviera at UFC 280 as he is a more skilled fighter.

October 11, 2022: Aljamain Sterling claimed that TJ Dillashaw might have found a way to cheat in preparation for their fight.

October 8, 2022: Islam Makhachev’s manager Ali Abdelaziz confirmed via Twitter that Hasbulla will be in Makhachev’s corner at UFC 280 in his fight against Charles Oliviera.

October 3, 2022: Aljamain Sterling said in an interview with Submission Radio that he TJ Dillashaw is still using some kind of drugs to get an edge in his fights.

September 18, 2022: Jamie Mullarkey pulled out from UFC 280 due to an injury. UFC was working to find another fighter for Magomed Mustafaev.
September 18, 2022: Hamdy Abdelwahab pulled out of this event for undisclosed reason from his fight against Parker Porter. Slim Trabelsi came in to replace Abdelwahab but he was removed from UFC roster due to contract issues with Ares FC. Parker Porter was pulled out of event after this, as per MMA Junkie.
September 17, 2022: Goerge St-Pierre said in an interview that Oliveira will have to stay in the center of the cage to win the fight.
“If the fight stays generally in the center of the octagon, that will give the advantage to Oliveira. However, if the fight goes mostly toward the fence, near the fence, that will give the advantage to Makhachev.”

September 17, 2022: Cory Sandhagen said he is surprised that Sean O’Malley got a match against Petr Yan after a poor performance against Pedro Munhoz in his last bout.
