Middleweights Puna Soriano and Roman Kopylov will clash at UFC Fight Night on January 14, 2023.
The report comes from Alex Behunin of MMA Mania who confirmed that Soriano vs Kopylov is done deal for first UFC event of 2023.
Soriano snapped a two-fight skid by defeating Dalcha Lungiambula on July 16’s Fight Night event. A DWCS 2019 alumni, he debuted with UFC at UFC 245 with a first-round knockout against Oskar Piechota. He got another knockout against Duško Todorović in his return to octagon in 2021.
Two decision losses against Brendan Allen and Nick Maximov followed this, which remains his only two MMA career losses also. Overall, Soriano is 9-2 in MMA and 3-2 in UFC.
Russia’s Roman Kopylov holds an identical record in MMA but has only one win in UFC so far with two losses. Kopylov got his first win in UFC at UFC Paris Fight Night in September this year. He got a knockout win over Alessio Di Chirico in third round. Kopylov lost to Karl Roberson in his UFC Debut in 2019 before a decision loss against Albert Duraev at UFC 267.
Slated as UFC Fight Night 217, the January 14 UFC event will see Kelvin Gastelum vs Nassourdine Imavov bout as the headliner. Keep tuned in for more news and updates on the event.
