Report: Kai Kara-France vs Alex Perez Agreed for UFC 284
New Zealand’s Kai Kara-France will likely be added to UFC 284 PPV card Down Under.
MMA Junkie reports that Kai Kara-France(24-10) and Alex Perez(23-7) have agreed to face off at UFC’s February 2023 PPV in Perth, Australia. The fight is not announced officially yet.
The pair was first supposed to clash at a Fight Night event on May 16, 2020. But that event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic at the time. Both men were last active on UFC 277 PPV card and suffered losses.
Kai Kara-France was in the co-main bout for the interim flyweight title, where he lost to Brandon Moreno at UFC 277 via third-round knockout. He was on a 3-fights winning streak before that, which included wins over Askar Askarov in March 2022 before wins over Cody Garbrandt(UFC 269) and Rogério Bontorin(UFC 259). He is 7-3 overall in UFC until now.
Alex Perez returned to the octagon at UFC 277 after 20 months when he lost to Alexandre Pantoja via first-round submission. Before that, he lost to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 255 in a bout for the Flyweight title.
After that loss, he had a bunch of postponements against Matt Schnell before the fight was finally canceled when Perez missed weight at UFC 271. Perez is 5-3 overall in UFC.
UFC 284 PPV currently has Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski fight in the main event for the lightweight title. The co-main event will see a new interim featherweight champion being crowned between Josh Emmett and Yair Rodriguez. Keep tuned in for more news and updates from UFC 284.
