Abubakar Nurmagomedov vs Gadzhi Omargadzhiev Set for UFC 280
Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Gadzhi Omargadzhiev will clash at UFC 280 PPV, as per reports.
Red Fury MMA revealed that both Russians will be on the card for the PPV event in Saudi Arabia on October 22, 2022. The
Abubakar Nurmagomedov, famous for his brawl with Conor McGregor at UFC 229, has fought on UFC card twice before. He lost in his UFC debut at Fight Night event in November 2019 to David Zawada. He later defeated Jared Gooden at UFC 260 PPV in March 2021.
Twice since then, his bouts have been cancelled. Abubakar had to pull out of a bout against Daniel Rodriguez at a Fight Night in July 2021 before visa issues forced him to pull out of a bout against Philip Rowe on July 16 this year.
A contender series graduate, Gadzhi Omargadzhiev came to UFC with 13-0 record, but he faced defeat at the hands of Caio Borralho at a Fight Night event in April this year.
Right now, it is not clear whether the fight will be at welterweight or at middleweight. Omargadzhiev has fought at middleweight throughout his career, while Abubakar has been active in the Welterweight division.
UFC 280 has a stacked card with a lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev and a bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and TJ Dillashaw. Petr Yan vs Sean O’Malley and Beniel Dariush vs Mateuz Gamrot are the other key fights on the card.
