Miranda Maverick vs Shanna Young Nixed from UFC 278
It has been officially announced that Miranda Maverick vs Shanna Young would not take place at UFC 278 PPV event this Saturday.
On Friday Maverick revealed that her scheduled opponent Shanna Young has been hospitalized and hence the flyweight bout between them at UFC 278 is canceled.
Miranda Maverick took to her Instagram handle to break this news. She stated that Young is hospitalized due to illness which she assumed happened due to the weight cut.
Initially, at UFC 278, Miranda Maverick was supposed to have the final bout of her UFC contract. However, after the cancellation of this bout, she reportedly accepted a new multi-fight deal with the promotion.
Now, it will be interesting to see whether UFC will pair her with someone else or wait for Young to get healthy.
Meanwhile, UFC 278 is all set to take place this Saturday and will be headlined by Kamaru Usman vs Leon Edwards welterweight championship bout.
