A bantamweight bout between Henry Cejudo and Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera is officially added on the match card of UFC 292 PPV.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the bout via ESPN for UFC 292 on August 19, 2023. The event is set to take place at TD Garden Arena in Boston, MA.

The two-division champion Henry Cejudo came back from retirement at UFC 288 last month. He lost to Aljamain Sterling that night by a split decision in the bout for UFC Bantamweight Championship. That loss was Cejudo’s first since 2016.

Between 2016 and his retirement in 2020, Cejudo has 6 wins in a row. He beat Demetrious Johnson to win the flyweight title at UFC 227 before defending it against TJ Dillashaw. He jumped up to the bantamweight division to beat Marlos Moraes to win the bantamweight title. He announced his retirement after beating Dominik Cruz in his first bantamweight title defense.

Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera’s 4-fights winning streak was also broken in his last fight. In his most recent bout in March this year, he lost to Cory Sandhagen via split decision in the main event of UFC San Antonio.

Prior to that, Vera defeated Frankie Edgar, Dominik Cruz, Davey Grant and Rob Font in successive bouts. He is currently ranked at #6 in UFC bantamweight rankings.

This is the third key bout from the bantamweight division to be announced for UFC 292 main card. A Bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley is set to headline the event. Cody Garbrandt and Mario Bautista are also set to clash on the main card in a bantamweight bout.

Zhang Weili defends her strawweight title against Amanda Lemos while a middleweight bout between Chris Weidman and Brad Tavares completes the main card.
