According to the latest reports, Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua II might take place on July 23 later this year.
Eddie Hearn initially revealed that the much-anticipated rematch would take place in late June or early July. But, now Dan Rafael came up with a date, and according to him, the bout will likely take place on July 23.
Oleksandr Usyk spent some of his past few weeks as a part of Ukraine’s military. So, it might be the possible reason the makers decided to shift the date a bit.
The venue and location for the match are not confirmed yet, but the chances are great that the rematch will take place at some stadium in the UK.
Last year in September, Oleksandr Usyk successfully defeated Anthony Joshua to win the IBO, IBF, WBO, and WBA Heavyweight titles.
Anthony Joshua didn’t waste any time after that and exercised his right for the rematch against Oleksandr Usyk which will now likely take place on July 23.
