Canelo vs GGG 3 to Take Place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas
T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV, will once again be the location Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin clash.
Matchroom Boxing has confirmed the location for the trilogy bout to take place on September 17, 2022. The tickets will go on sale on Monday, June 27, while the pre-sale will start on June 24, Friday.
Canelo’s unified Super Middleweight IBF, WBO, WBA(super), WBC and The Ring titles will be on the line in this bout. Golovkin already holds IBF, IBO and WBA(super) middleweight titles. This will be Golovkin’s third bout at the venue, which have all come against Canelo.
Canelo and Golovkin first clashed on September 16, 2017, in a middleweight bout with WBA(super), WBC, IBF, IBO and The Ring titles on the line. The first bout ended in a controversial split draw.
The second bout took place on September 15, 2018, where Canelo got the razor-thin majority decision win to win the WBC, WBA(super), IBO & The Ring middleweight titles. These bouts remain only draw and loss in Golvkin’s career. He has won the rest of his 42 career fights.
After Canelo moved on to Light Heavyweight and Super Middleweight divisions, he relinquished the middleweight titles. Golovkin has once again won IBF, IBO and WBA titles in his four bouts since losing to Canelo.
Canelo vs GGG 3 bout will be a DAZN PPV in the United States but will be available via DAZN’s monthly subscription worldwide. Both Golovkin and Canelo signed with DAZN right after their second fight. Canelo briefly became a free agent early in 2021 but has signed another deal with DAZN for two fights in 2022.
In the first fight of his new deal, Canelo lost to WBA(super) Light Heavyweight Champion Dmitry Bivol. That bout also took place at T-Mobile Arena.
