Both men fought tooth and nail against each other in the post main event match at AEW Full Gear 2019. The steel steps, barbed wires, mouse trap boards, and many other weapons were used by both of them to hurt their opponent. In the final phase of the match, Omega called the Young Bucks and Adam Page to bring out a barbed wire spider-web. But it was Moxley who ended up crashing both of them into the web with a suplex. Omega got some revenge when he drove Moxley through a board at the entrance stage with a V-Trigger.

They finally made their way back to the ring, after which Moxley removed the mat cover and the padding to expose the wooden boards under the ring. After a brief back-and-forth exchange, Moxley sealed the win with his paradigm shift finisher onto the wood.

The storyline between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega started at AEW Double or Nothing. Jon Moxley made a surprise appearance at the show and attacked Chris Jericho. But more importantly, Kenny Omega and Moxley ended up brawling at the event. They were earlier supposed to face-off at AEW All Out. But due to a staph infection, Moxley pulled away from the event.

They reignited the feud at the AEW Dynamite premiere episode where Moxley put Omega through the table. After the animosity between them increased and both looked destined to use other means to hurt each other, AEW President Tony Khan declared the match as unsanctioned. Due to this stipulation, the match will not count on either Omega or Moxley’s records.
