WWE recently announced the schedule for Royal Rumble 2020 weekend in Houston, Texas. And one of the major changes was the Worlds Collide event replacing NXT TakeOver show. PWInsider also revealed that WWE has replied to their query regarding NXT Takeovers that event at Royal Rumble will be a Worlds Collide event. And the schedule of the 2020 NXT TakeOver Events will be out in the near future.

From last few years, WWE has been holding 4 shows in same arenas around their 4 major WWE PPVs- Takeover, PPV show, RAW and SmackDown from Saturday/Friday to Tuesday. With SmackDown now moving to Friday nights from October, Survivor Series weekend will see WWE shows to air from Friday, 22 November to Monday, 25 November at Allstate Arena in Chicago.

Now, f4wonline is also reporting that beginning with the 2020 Royal Rumble Week, it will not be the case. The Friday Night SmackDown during Rumble Week is being moved to Dallas, TX, instead of Houston. World Collide show on Saturday night will air from the Toyota Center in Houston. The post-Rumble RAW will now be held in San Antonio.

Worlds Collide Tournament was started from Royal Rumble Axxess this year and featured the superstars from NXT, NXT UK and 205 Live. The Axxess show was aired later in February this year. 2020 Worlds Collide is also expected to take place on the same concept but will air live on WWE Network.

Updated 2020 Royal Rumble Week line-up is as below:

  • 24 January, Friday – SmackDown Live, Dallas
  • 25 January, Saturday – Worlds Collide, Toyota Center in Houston, Texas
  • 26 January, Sunday – Royal Rumble, Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas
  • 27 January, Monday – Monday Night RAW, San Antonio

Regarding the Worlds Collide special that we noted earlier, it’s believed the event will feature NXT, NXT UK and 205 Live Superstars, but plans are still being worked out. The event will air live on the WWE Network that night, likely in the same timeslot that Takeover events usually air in.

WWE will still be holding Takeover events and a schedule is being worked out currently. The idea for NXT to hold its TakeOver events separate from main WWE events have come in place after NXT moving to the USA. NXT held its first separate TakeOver from WWE PPV in June this year at NXT TakeOver: XXV.
