Welcome to the Live Results Blog for WWE SmackDown episode of October 7, 2022, which will the season premiere episode for 2022-23 TV season. The show will act as the go-home show for Extreme Rules event.

Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns will appear on the show with rest of the Bloodline. He will come face-to-face with Logan Paul, his opponent at Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. What will Roman have to say to Logan? And will Logan arrive with some backup against the might of Bloodline?

Gunther and Sheamus will collide in a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship. Will Sheamus become just the third wrestler to pin Gunther in WWE? Ricochet will face Solo Sikoa in a singles match. Last week, Sikoa and Sami Zayn defeated Ricochet & Madcap Moss in a tag team match. Can Ricochet turn things around in a singles match?

The final build-up for the matches at Extreme Rules between Drew McIntyre and Karrios Kross, and SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey might see some explosions.   • Solo Sikoa defeated Ricochet in a singles match via pinfall.
  • Shotzi & Raquel Rodriguez defeated Sonya Deville & Xia Li in a tag team match via pinfall.
  • New Day(Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) & Braun Strowman defeated The Usos(Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) & Sami Zayn in a tag team match via pinfall.
  • Gunther(c) defeated Sheamus in a singles match via pinfall to retain WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Live Updates


Triple H comes out to open the season opener episode to a loud response. He starts his promo by saying that there comes a time when we think everything is finished, but that is the time to start again. He welcomes us to FOX and and to Friday Night SmackDown. Pyro goes off.

Roman & Logan

Roman Reigns’ music hits right after this and he comes out with his entourage of Paul Heyman, The Usos, Solo Sikoa and Sami Zayn. We get a recap of press conference between Roman and Logan Paul, and how things got heated. Roman finishes off his entrance in the ring and more pyro goes off. Heyman hands him the mic. Roman asks the crowd to acknowledge him and the crowd goes berserk. Logan Paul’s music hits as he comes out.

Logan stands on the apron and does not come into the ring. Roman says he gets it that there are a bunch of them, but he assures Logan that this is a safe place and asks him to get in. Logan gets into the ring. The crowd starts to chant “Logan Sucks.” Roman says fans used to chant that for him also, but he is the greatest of all time now. He hands the mic to Paul Heyman to teach Logan something.

Heyman starts to talk and wonders who is Logan Paul. Heyman says Logan is this generation’s version of Mr. T and Cindi Lauper- an outsider who WWE brings in to get more eyeballs so that people could acknowledge the Tribal Chief. Heyman drops some names that WWE could have brought it to face Roman, but concludes that they do not have balls to face the Tribal Chief. Heyman goes on to describe what will be Logan’s condition after facing Roman at Crown Jewel and says he hope doctors put the catheter in the right hole when he gets hospitalized.

Logan takes the mic now and asks Heyman which Tribal Chief is he talking about – Roman Reigns or Jey Uso. Jey gets angry and starts to talk trash. Logan says, off the mic, that he could not find a difference between them over who is calling the shots. When Jey does not get quiet, Roman stares him down. Sami comes in and tries to calm Roman down.

Sami says Roman is GOAT, Universal Champion, and the Tribal Chief. This is Roman’s family and Jey did nothing wrong. Anyone doing anything wrong is this Youtuber who will get smashed at Crown Jewel. Sami says Logan is a Giant #2 who will end up as a #2 stain on Roman’s shoes. And when Roman is done with Logan, The Bloodline will be united better than ever because they are the ones. Roman’s music hits once again as The Bloodline poses to close the segment.

Ricochet vs Solo Sikoa

Solo hits Ricochet with a crossbody as he was finishing off his entrance. The referee gets the bell rung after checking with Ricochet. Ricochet goes for quick strikes. Solo cuts him off with a big uppercut. Ricochet sends him to the floor and hits a tope suicida. Ricochet hits a crossbody and a springboard moonsault to get a two-count. Solo moves to the floor for a breather. Ricochet catches him with a springboard kick on the apron as Solo was getting back. Ricochet fients another tope suicida.

Solo takes his time and is being careful in returning to the ring. Ricochet nails him with a knee strike to send him back to the floor. Solo gets angry and slams a chair onto the mat. Solo drops Ricochet on the ropes to take control. He whips Ricochet to the corner and hits big shots. Ricochet fires back but Solo nails him with a punch on the ropes as Ricochet was going for another springboard move. Ricochet falls to the floor and we cut to a break.

We return to see Solo has vice grip on Ricochet’s shoulder. Ricochet gets to his feet but Solo hits him with an uppercut. Ricochet gets him boot up in the corner to cut off Solo’s charge. Ricochet hits quick strikes, an enzuigiri, a corner tackle, a knee strike, a thrust kick and spin kick to drop Solo. Ricochet goes to the top but Solo catches the 450-splash and hits Spinning Solo to get the pin.

Winner – Solo Sikoa

Roman Reigns is watching the match from his locker room. Sami is talking about Solo’s exploits. He mentions taking Solo under his wings. Jey Uso takes offense on that line and says Solo is their brother. Sami asks Jey to not be a hothead. Jey gets quiet when Roman stares at him. Roman says Jey has always been a hothead and it might be becoming a problem for them.


After the break, Sami is walking backstage with The Usos and telling Jimmy that he did not mean for any of that to happen. New Day interupt them and try to mock them. Sami gets enraged and tell New Day to find a partner for a trios match tonight. New Day accept and leave. Jimmy asks Sami to get it together.

Legado Del Fantasma Arrives!

Hit-Row trio makes their entrance. As they pose in the ring, Adonis is suddenly hit with a drive-by dropkick by a man in a Lucha mask. Two more men come in and attack Top Dolla. The group continues to beat up Top Dolla for a while. B-Fab gets into the ring to check on Top Dolla. Zelina Vega hits her with a hurricanrana and a running knee strike. Adonis comes in and gets dropped. The group removes their mask and are revealed to be Legado Del Fantasma – Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro. Vega takes the mic to announce her return and says she did not come alone. Escobar introduces the group which ends the segment.


We get an arcade video game style video package for White Rabbit. The rabbit digs on an “X” sign for Extreme Rules. We are told that there will be a reveal at Extreme Rules.

Sonya Deville & Xia Li vs Shotzi & Raquel Rodriguez

Shotzi’s tank is back as she makes her entrance with Raquel Rodriguez. Shotzi and Sonya start. Xia runs a distraction and Sonya takes quick strikes at Shotzi. Sonya hits a knee strike to get a two-count. Xia tags in and unloads in the corner. Xia hits a fisherman’s suplex to get a two-count. Sonya comes back and Xia helps her to cut off a comeback from Shotzi. Raquel gets a tag and runs over both opponents. She hits a fallaway slam on Sonya before hitting a corkscrew Vader bomb. Shotzi helps her out by taking Xia Li to the floor. Raquel hits Tihana bomb on Sonya to get the pin.

Winner – Raquel Rodrigues & Shotzi

After the break, we get a video package to recap the storyline between Ronda Rousey and Liv Morgan.

Strap Match Preview!

The screen turns black as Scarlett is on the stage. Karrion Kross makes his entrance as Scarlett follows him. Kross and Scarlett complete their entrance sequence in the ring. However, Drew McIntyre is just behind him and attacks him. Drew unloads on Kross and drops him to the mat. Drew has a strap and puts it on Kross’ hand. He tries to choke Kross but security runs in. Drew takes care of them one by one on the floor. Kross pulls Drew into the ringpost using the strap. He slams Drew into the ringpost a few times. Kross pulls the strap to bring Drew back to his feet and slams the strap on Drew’s back. Kross continues to nail Drew with the strap until Drew goes down again in pain. Kross and Scarlett pose for a while and leave to the back. Drew gets back to his feet as the segment ends.

New Day(Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) & Braun Strowman vs The Usos(Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) & Sami Zayn

Sami and The Usos come out first. New Day come out to the stage and asks who is their partner. It turns out to be Braun Strowman. Sami is shocked. Woods and Sami start the match. Sami hits a shoulder tackle. Woods comes out of shoulder tackle with a shoulder tackle of his own. Kofi tags in and stops Jey with a crossbody. Kofi runs the ropes but Sami tags out to Jey. Kofi hits a dropkick on Jey as he was getting angry at Sami. Woods drops Jimmy off the apron. New Day hit The Usos with stereo suicide dives. Sami tries to help The Usos get back to their feet but Jey screams at him that he does not need. We cut to a break.

Sami and The Usos are in control over Kofi as we return. Sami had distracted the referee during the break and The Usos double-teamed on Kofi to take control. Quick tags between Sami and The Usos as the match continues. Sami hits a clothesline on Kofi but Jey tags himself in with a big slap on his back. Jey hits a side suplex to get a two-count. Jimmy takes a cheap shot on Kofi from outside. Sami tags in Jey and holds on Kofi for Jey to hit a superkick. Jimmy tags in. Sami and Jey argue and this gives Kofi a chance to counter Jimmy.

Strowman gets the hot tag and drops Jey and Sami off the apron. Strowman runs over Jimmy a few times before dropping him with a chokeslam. He tags to Kofi and runs over Sami and Jey who were arguing on the floor. Kofi and Woods hit a double-team stomp/backbreaker combo to get the pin on Jimmy.

Winner – New Day & Braun Strowman

Backstage, Maxxine Dupri is screaming at Max Dupri as we see Mansoor and Mace dropped on the floor. Dupri says he is not Max, but he is LA Knight. LA Knight leaves as Maxxine checks on Mace and Mansoor.

Gunther(c) vs Sheamus – WWE Intercontinental Championship

They start by throwing blows at each other. Gunther hits a big shot. Sheamus drops Gunther with a clothesline who rolls to the floor. Gunther tries to fire more shots as Sheamus comes to the floor. Sheamus goes to throw him into the barricade a few times. We cut to a break.

Gunther sends Sheamus to the apron but Sheamus pulls him into the ropes. Sheamus hits a flying clothesline from the top. Gunther hits a bit boot before Sheamus drops him with a body slam. Gunther blocks shots to the chest and pulls Sheamus to the apron. He hits big chops on Sheamus before slamming his face into the ringpost. Sheamus falls to the floor. The referee starts the countdown. Gunther pulls him back to the ring and hits more shots. Sheamus tries to go toe-to-toe but Gunther puts him in a sleeper hold. Sheamus gets back to his feet and Gunther hits him with a chop. Sheamus also fires in with big shots while Gunther continues with his chops. Gunther hits a German suplex to take us to a break.

Gunther nails Sheamus with a big forearm upon the return. He hits more forearms and punches as Sheamus starts to get back to his feet. Sheamus also fires back with blows. Gunther goes for a sleeper again but Sheamus slams him to the corner. He hits his signature blows to the chest. Sheamus hits White Noise from the second rope. Gunther kicks out of the pin. Gunther blocks Cloverleaf and kicks Sheamus away. Gunther hits a superkick and a powerbomb. Sheamus kicks out now. Gunther turns his attack on Sheamus’ neck. He hits a diving splash from the top on the back of his neck. Sheamus kicks out of the pin again.

Gunther blocks Brogue kick but Sheamus hits a backbreaker and puts on cloverleaf. It seems like Gunther tapped out as he was trying to get to the ropes, but the referee waves it off and Gunther reaches the ropes. Kaiser and Vinci come out to the floor. Butch and Holland attack them. Gunther hits a chop and Sheamus fires in with a knee strike. Kaiser throws in a shillelagh and Gunther nails Sheamus with it while the referee was busy dealing with Butch and Vinci. Gunther covers Sheamus to get a pin.

Winner – Gunther

The brawling continues after the match also as the show goes off the air.
