Preview & Predictions

WWE Money in the Bank 2020 will WWE’s second PPV show that will take place without audience amid this pandemic. This year’s attraction matches, that is Money in the Bank Briefcase matches, will actually take place at WWE Headquarters building in Stamford, while the other matches will be taped at WWE Performance Center.

Apart from the pandemic stricken, no audience show, this will be a unique event due to a few more reasons. First one- THE MITB Ladder matches will start from the ground floor of WWE Headquarters building while the briefcases will hand on the third floor. Second- Both Men and Women MITB matches will take place simultaneously and will be aired part by part over the course of the whole show. Third- Since MITB matches are taking place at WWE Headquarters which is around 3 hours flight distance from the venue of other matches- WWE Performance Center, there will be no question of immediate cash-ins.

Drew McIntyre(c) vs Seth Rollins – WWE Championship

Drew McIntyre(c) vs Seth Rollins – WWE Championship, Money in the Bank 2020

Preview- McIntyre is the WWE Champion now, while Seth Rollins was defeated by Kevin Owens at WrestleMania. So, Monday Night Messiah felt like he was crucified and is reborn 7 days after WrestleMania. He jumped on McIntyre and that was the start of their rivalry. From there

WWE is almost repeating everything they did with Seth Rollins last with McIntyre in order to make him a big star. At last year’s MITB, it was AJ Styles who was the big star that was fed to Rollins in order to establish his title reign from the start. This year, Rollins is going against McIntyre for the title.

Prediction- It is hard to see that Drew McIntyre will lose the title so early in his reigns. Especially after how dominant he is looking in each of his outings since Royal Rumble. But where will another high profile loss leave Seth Rollins to?

Braun Strowman(c) vs Bray Wyatt – Universal Championship

Braun Strowman(c) vs Bray Wyatt – WWE Universal Championship Match, Money in the Bank 2020

Preview- Braun Strowman has something that Bray Wyatt needs, the Universal title. The title that earlier belonged to him until it was dropped into Goldberg’s lap. So, Wyatt starts playing his mind games with Strowman who was earlier part of his stable when he broke out in the main roster. But Strowman is not interested in playing ball with him.

Braun Strowman is obviously just a transitional champion who got lucky after Roman Reigns pulled out of WrestleMania. On the other hand, WWE does not have anyone significant left to feed to the Fiend. So, until Roman comes back, they will likely keep this story going.

Prediction- Braun Strowman to retain the title at Money in the Bank. Why am I saying this? Because we will get Bray Wyatt against him in the match and not The Fiend.

Bayley(c) vs Tamina – SmackDown Women’s Champion

Bayley(c) vs Tamina Snuka Money in the Bank 2020
Bayley(c) vs Tamina Snuka – WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship, Money in the Bank 2020

Preview- There are a few storylines that are running in parallel here. The first one is Tamina chasing Bayley for the title after she was unceremoniously eliminated from WrestleMania by all the other wrestlers. Second is the increasing animosity between Sasha Banks and Bayley. The third is Lacey Evans’ slow ascend towards the title and her continuous presence in the title scene.

When Tamina asked Bayley for the title shot, Bayley put forward Sasha to deal with her, which Sasha did not like. This was continued from WrestleMania where Sasha was eliminated after Bayley put her in the harm’s way. Bayley and Sasha kept trying to double team against Tamina, but Evans kept coming to her aid.

Prediction- With such a convoluted storyline, it does not seem clear which scenario will play out at Money in the Bank. So, in such times, the simplest option is generally right. Bayley to retain her title even after some mishap with Sasha.

The New Day(c) vs The Forgotten Sons vs Lucha House Party vs The Miz & John Morrison – SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Smackdown Tag Team Championship money in the bank 2020

Preview- After John Morrison succeeded to retain the titles at WrestleMania, Big E won it for New Day at SmackDown for the 6th time. Since then, The Forgotten Sons have arrived at the scene while an injury to Jimmy Uso has given an opportunity for Lucha House Party to enter the title scene again.

Prediction- Again, the result will be the simplest option, which would for The New Day to retain the titles here.

Aleister Black vs Daniel Bryan vs Rey Mysterio vs Otis vs Baron Corbin vs AJ Style – Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match

Men's Ladder Match Money In The Bank 2020

Preview- There is not much to write about this match apart from the participant names that are listed above. Daniel Bryan and Baron Corbin have a mini-rivalry going on after Corbin defeated Gulak in the qualifiers. Otis has been a rising star and Vince McMahon is said to be firmly behind his push. The same goes for Aleister Black, who is getting a slow push for almost a year now. AJ Styles is clearly the man with momentum after his high profile match against The Undertaker and Gauntlet match win.

Prediction- Always tough to predict these ones. Black is a clear long term favorite but AJ is the one with momentum. Lets go with Aleister Black.

Asuka vs Nia Jax vs Shayna Baszler vs Dana Brooke vs Lacey Evans vs Carmella – Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match

Women's Ladder Match Money In The Bank 2020

Preview- Asuka, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler qualified from RAW side pretty early and have been involved in brawling ever since. Shayna Baszler is the designated contender for the title next up, but all three women are looking solid going into the match. SmackDown’s lineup was made up week after week as Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans and Carmella won their qualifiers. Brooke and Carmella have been the traditional mid-carders for some time now. So, Evans is the only one looking like winning this match from SmackDown. But she will also not

Prediction- Shayna Baszler or Lacey Evans are the clear favorites.
