WWE Drops Trademark on Chelsea Green’s Name

WWE has dropped the trademark on Chelsea Green’s name as confirmed by Chelsea Green herself.

Chelsea Green was one of the multiple WWE releases that took place in April this year. WWE filed for the trademark in 2020. However, even after releasing her, the company wanted to lock down her name and had to file for additional information to USPTO until 5 August.

However, Chelsea Green was not willing to let go of her “Birth Given” name. Chelsea took to Twitter to express frustration and anger over a legal battle with WWE.

Now, Fightful Select has reported that WWE made a contact with Chelsea Green and informed her that the company is releasing the trademark filing in her name. Green is now free to use her real name anywhere without thinking twice. Green herself confirmed this news to Fightful.

Chelsea Green signed a three-year deal with WWE in November 2020 and also made her SmackDown debut in the same month. It was around this time that WWE first filed the trademark for her name. Green suffered a broken wrist in her debut match and returned earlier this year. However, she never returned on screen this year.

WWE released her on 15 April along with several other releases amid the budget cuts. Green filed for a trademark for her name after her WWE release, but conflicting trademark with WWE created an issue. The situation seemed to have resolved now.

The former Impact Knockouts Champion has made a return to IMPACT Wrestling since then. She has also got a stint with ROH on the commentary desk and is also set to make her NWA debut later this month at NWA EmPowerrr.
