Usos vs Mysterios SmackDown Tag Title Rematch Announced for Summerslam
The Usos(Jimmy & Jey) will defend the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Mysterios(Rey & Dominik) at SummerSlam 2021 PPV, WWE has announced.
The Usos defeated The Mysterios at the pre-show of Money in the Bank 2021 to win the titles. It was their third attempt to win the title from the father-son duo.
The Samoan Brothers earlier got back-to-back title matches against the Mysterios on the 4 June 2021 episode of SmackDown. But The Mysterios were able to retain the title that day, first via pinfall and then by disqualification when Roman Reigns attacked Rey Mysterios. The Master of 619 also faced Roman Reigns in a Hell in a Cell match but was unable to win the Universal Championship. The Mysterios helped out Edge several times in the lead-up to Money in the Bank.
The storyline has continued after Money in the Bank with singles matches between them. Jimmy Uso defeated Dominik in a singles match on the 23 July edition of SmackDown after an assist from Jey. Rey Mysterio got the win over Jimmy as Dominik gave an assist in a similar manner on the 30 July episode.
Now, a rematch is announced between the two families for SummerSlam 2021 PPV. Who will emerge victorious among the two teams? Will the Mysterios take the title back or will The Usos find another way to retain it?
