Strowman Handicapped Match Announced For Backlash 2020

Braun Strowman will defend the WWE Universal Championship in an 2-on-1 handicapped match against The Miz and John Morrison at WWE Backlash 2020 PPV.

The Dirt Sheet was back on SmackDown this week and Miz and Morrison were taking shots quite particularly at Universal Champion. Last week, Strowman and Otis defeated Miz and Morrison in a tag team match. They pointed out how Strowman was stupid to hand around Otis last week in a tag team match against them. They also mentioned his Wyatt Family days and showed some “exclusive” puppets that Wyatt chose over Strowman for Firefly Fun House.

Strowman also came out and The Miz got into an argument with him over Wyatt. Morrison took the argument forward and ended up fixing the match between Miz and Strowman. Strowman dominated the match throughout and destroyed Miz in his win.

After the match, as Morrison was checking on Miz, he challenged Strowman for the handicapped match for the title at Backlash. Strowman accepted and WWE announced the match later in the show. This is the third match announced for the PPV after Randy Orton-Edge clash and WWE championship match.

Strowman Lost Title in Handicapped Match

Braun Strowman won the Intercontinental Championship earlier in the year. However, he lost it to Sami Zayn in a handicapped match at WWE Elimination Chamber 2020 PPV. It all turned out for good though, as he got Roman Reigns’ spot at WrestleMania 36 to win the Universal Championship.

After the announcement of the match at Backlash, The Miz and Morrison pointed out that Strowman had had a poor record in handicapped matches, which gives them the advantage to win the title.
