Watch: Roxanne Perez Wins First NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament
Roxanne Perez has become the first-ever winner of NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.
Perez faced Tiffany Stratton in the final match tonight at WWE NXT. Both women showcased some grappling work and some athleticism at the start. Stratton was able to get the upper hand.
Late in the match, Perez made a comeback with a Meteora from the top rope and followed it with a suicide dive. Stratton got a close two-count as she hit a powerbomb. Perez was able to counter a Moonsault and hit Code Red to get the win. Perez’s friend Cora Jade ran out to celebrate with her and handed her the contract from the Breakout tournament which gives Perez a shot at NXT Women’s Champion.
Soon, Toxic Attraction – NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne – came out to interrupt the celebration. Citing their dominance in NXT, Rose warned Perez against cashing in the contract against her. A brawl broke out between the two sides and saw Indi Hartwell coming to help out Jade and Perez.
It remains to be seen if and when Perez will cash in the contract. NXT Great American Bash is the next big NXT event, taking place on July 5.
This is the second tournament that Perez has won. She earlier won the ROH Women’s title tournament as Rox-C.
