WWE Superstar Roman Reigns has become the second wrestler to complete 500 days as the WWE Universal Champion.

Roman Reigns won the Universal title at Payback 2020 PPV back on August 30, 2020. This was just one week after his return to WWE from a hiatus at SummerSlam 2020. He pinned Braun Strowman in the triple threat match to dethrone The Fiend Bray Wyatt as the champion.

This was also the start of this Tribal Cheif gimmick. As of January 12, 2022, the Head of the Table has completed 500 days as the Universal Champion in his second reign. Also, he is just 5 days away from becoming the longest-reigning Universal Champion in a single title reign.

Only Brock Lesnar now has a longer reign than Roman with his 504 days reign. Lesnar defeated Goldberg at WrestleMania 33 on April 2, 2017, and went on to drop the title to Roman at SummerSlam 2018 on August 19, 2018. Roman is set to beat that record as he is set to be the Universal Champion at least until Royal Rumble at January 29, where he defends the title against Seth Rollins.

But one record that is still away from Roman’s reach, which Lesnar’s record of total days as the Universal Champion. Lesnar has held the Universal title for a total of 688 days in his three title reigns. You can check here for a complete list of WWE Universal Champions and statistics related to it.
