AEW President Tony Khan has finally given the most-anticipated update on the first-ever Owen Hart Cup tournament.
The Owen Hart Cup was announced back in September. It will take place in collaboration with Owen Hart Foundation in order to honor the legacy of Owen Hart.
Recently, Tony Khan appeared on Busted Open Radio, where he revealed that the Owen Hart Cup would have one male and one female tournament. The December 17 episode of Rampage also revealed that the matches for these tournaments would start from May 2022, and the finals would take place at AEW Double or Nothing.
Also, Dr. Martha, Owen Hart’s wife, will be present at the PPV event to award the trophies. More details on the Owen Hart Cup will be announced on the upcoming Wednesday at AEW Dynamite: Holiday Bash.
Owen Hart has a special place in the hearts of wrestling fans. A talented wrestler from the Hart Family Dungeon, Owen held WWF Intercontinental, tag team titles, and even won the King of the Ring winner in 1994, apart from creating many memorable moments in the ring.
Hart lost his life in a tragic accident at just 34 years of age. Owens fell from 78 feet after a failed stunt during his entrance at WWF Over the Edge PPV event on May 23, 1999.
