Johnny Wrestling has returned to WWE after 9 months.

Johnny Gargano appeared on WWE RAW this week after resigning with the company. He was away from wrestling since the December 7, 2021 episode of NXT where he was jumped by Grayson Waller.

Gargano cut a promo in front of a packed Toronto crowd at Scotiabank Arena and reintroduced himself to all the fans who are not aware of his NXT exploits. The first ever NXT Triple Crown Champion talked about his dreams of becoming an Intercontinental, United States and World Champion with WWE being the inspiration for his return to the promotion.

Theory, Gargano’s former stablemate, came out to interrupt him. Theory argued that, unlike their days in NXT, he had outgrown Gargano by becoming the youngest ever United States Champion and being the MITB holder. Theory suggested that Gargano can now follow him on RAW like a rookie. As he asked Gargano for a high five, Gargano nailed Theory with a superkick.

After his contract with WWE ended in November, Gargano extended his stay until the first week of December. At the time, he announced a hiatus from wrestling on account of becoming a father for the first time. All kinds of speculations were made about him signing with AEW or WWE in the past months.

Since the end of his contract with WWE last year, Gargano only appeared at Starrcast convention last month and made a brief appearance on IMPACT Wrestling in a video.

However, with Triple H taking the reigns of WWE Creative, Gargano became more likely to sign back with WWE. He joins the list of several NXT Black and Gold stars returning to the main roster with Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Dexter Lumis, Hit-Row, and others.
