Hartwell Vacates NXT Women’s Title, New Champion at NXT Battleground
Indi Hartwell has vacated NXT Women’s Championship and a new champion will be crowned at NXT Battleground 2023 event.
Indi Hartwell was drafted to WWE RAW during Draft 2023. She came out to address NXT crowd on May 2 episode with a cast on her right leg. Indi revealed that she had an ankle sprain last week but that did not stop her from defending her title at Spring Breakin’ last week.
Hartwell then announced that with her move to RAW from next week, there will be a tournament to crown the new champion. The tournament will culminate at NXT Battleground 2023 event four weeks later. Dexter Lumis then appeared and took Indi away with the NXT Women’s title sitting in the middle of the ring.
Tiffany Stratton picked up the title as soon as Indi was backstage. Cora Jade tried to snatch it away before Lyra Valkyrie attacked them. Almost all of the women’s locker room ran out to join the brawling to close the show.
NXT Battleground 2023 airs on May 28 from Lowell Center in Massachusetts. NXT Championship rematch between Carmelo Hayes vs Bron Breakker is expected to headline the show.
