Dolph Ziggler Reveals His Favorite Royal Rumble Match

Ziggler appeared at WWE’s The Bump this week. He was asked about his favorite Royal Rumble match by Kayla Braxton. Ziggler replied that his match against Edge at Royal Rumble 2011 for the WWE Championship is his favorite.

Ziggler went on to mention that fans(with their noise) and Edge created an unforgettable moment for him.

“We went one-on-one to open up the Royal Rumble. I went in knowing and the entire audience knowing that I had no chance of winning. Because Edge is so awesome at what he does because that rivalry became so great because I learned so much in the past from traveling with him, [I knew] I was a formidable opponent to him at the time.

Ziggler mentioned how the audience came to know during the match that he is a star in making. Ziggler also pointed out that audience knew he was booked to lose but Edge and him made them feel otherwise during the match, which made it a compulsive viewing.

“Ten minutes into that 30-minute match, the entire crowd started coming around and realized there was a star in the making here. We beat the living hell out of each other. I appreciate anyone who loves and respects this business that knows you can go hard on them, and they’ll come back much harder on you. We stoled the show opening, and everybody had to follow it afterward. I do not know who won that Royal Rumble, and I don’t remember being in there. All I know is they weren’t sitting down the last 15 minutes of it. They knew I was going to lose, and we told them otherwise halfway through.”

Edge defended his title against Ziggler at Royal Rumble 2011 with the stipulation that he can’t use the Spear during the match. However, during the final moments of the match, Edge collided with the referee which gave him the chance to use the spear and then, the killswitch to pin Ziggler.

Ziggler would later become the champion as Acting General Manager Vickie Guerrero awarded him the title because Edge used Spear in the match.

Ziggler is the current WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion. He is yet to be announced for any match at this year’s Royal Rumble.
