WWE will return to its second event in Saudi Arabia for this year and fourth event in the last two years with Crown Jewel 2019 show. Once again, WWE has announced a star-studded line-up with all of their blockbuster stars along with Hall of Famers like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair.

WWE Crown Jewel 2019 Matches and Storylines

Seth Rollins(c) vs Bray Wyatt – Falls Count Anywhere Match, WWE Universal Championship

Storyline- Bray Wyatt announced that the Fiend will go for the Universal Championship at Hell in a Cell. When Seth Rollins was successful to defend the title against Braun Strowman at Clash of Champions, the Fiend attacked him and closed out the show. In the next few weeks, the Fiend would continuously attack Rollins. At Hell in a Cell, their match was ended in no result by a referee stoppage which received a lot of flak from the fans.

On SmackDown edition of WWE Draft, the Fiend would once again attack Rollins during his match against Roman Reigns. Next night on RAW, WWE announced their Falls Count Anywhere rematch at Crown Jewel 2019. On the same night, Rollins invaded Bray Wyatt’s Firefly Fun House, attacking Wyatt and burned down the Fun House set. Later, WWE added the stipulation that the match will not stop for any reason, to avoid the repeat like Hell in a Cell.

Brock Lesnar(c) vs Cain Velasquez – WWE Championship Match

Storyline- Brock Lesnar has just defeated Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship in a matter of seconds at SmackDown’s Fox premiere. But then he was confronted by an opponent from his past, Cain Velasquez. Entering alongside Rey Mysterio, Velasquez entered the ring and tackled down Lesnar.

A few days before this incident, Brock Lesnar had actually assaulted Rey Mysterio and his son Dominic. To get his revenge on Lesnar, Mysterio turned towards his friend Cain Velasquez. Earlier, Velasquez had brutally defeated Brock Lesnar for the UFC World Heavyweight Championship in 2010 and is someone who Lesnar has never defeated. Their match for the WWE Championship was later fixed for Crown Jewel 2019 at the press conference at T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas.

On the go-home edition of SmackDown for Crown Jewel, Cain Velasquez and Rey Mysterio came out for a face to face showdown with Lesnar. But Lesnar attacked Dominic once again backstage. When Rey and Cain reached to help out Dominic, Lesnar attacked them also from behind and laid out Velasquez with an F5.

Team Hulk Hogan(Captain Seth Rollins) vs Team Ric Flair(Captain Randy Orton) – 10 Men Tag Team Match

Storyline- WWE Hall of Famers Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair appeared at RAW season premiere episode on 30 September 2019 for a Miz TV segment. Both legends ended up showing some tension between them. Ric Flair accused WWE universe of not treat him on the level with Hulk Hogan despite him winning the most number of World Titles.

Both legends teased a brawl right there but decided against it. The Miz then announced a match at Crown Jewel where they will act as the coached for the respective teams. Hogan announced Rollins as the captain of his team while Flair also immediately announced his former Evolution teammate Randy Orton as the captain of his team.

Baron Corbin attacked Seth Rollins and immediately aligned himself with Orton and Flair. Rusev made the save on Rollins and was added to Hogan’s team. Bobby Lashley started a feud with Rusev to get added to Flair’s team. But later, Seth Rollins was announced to defend the WWE Universal Champion against the Fiend Bray Wyatt.

Roman Reigns replaced Rollins as the captain along with the addition of Shorty G and Ali to Hogan’s team. Flair’s team added Shinsuke Nakamura who had started a rivalry with Roman Reigns. And for the final pick, Flair announced the returning Drew McIntyre.

Tyson Fury vs Braun Strowman

Storyline- Tyson Fury, the Lineal Heavyweight Champion in Boxing, was a guest at SmackDown’s Fox Premiere episode. Braun Strowman, during his tag team match, teased him with a boxing stance and later went on to throw Dolph Ziggler towards him. An enraged Tyson Fury tried to jump in the ring but was stopped by the security.

3 Days later, he appeared at Monday Night RAW and asked an apology from Strowman. This lead to a massive brawl where both of them had to be controlled by the entire RAW Locker room. Later, their match was confirmed in a press conference at T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas.

Lacey Evans vs Natalya

Storyline- WWE has been trying to put on a women’s match in Saudi Arabia show for some time now. At Super ShowDown 2019, they took Natalya and Alexa Bliss to the country but they did not get permission for the match. When they took Lacey Evans and Natalya to the Saudi event this time, they got permission to put them in a match.

Mansoor vs Cesaro

Storyline- Hometown boy Mansoor won the 50 Men Battle Royal last time. And one of the contestants that Mansoor eliminated during the match was Cesaro. Now, Mansoor will have to face his adversary in a singles match. This will also be the first time that Mansoor will be working in his hometown of Riyadh. (Mansoor is the first wrestler from Saudi Arabia that WWE has signed).

Tag Team Turmoil Match for World Cup 2019

The biggest ever Tag Team Turmoil match is announced by WWE with the winner getting the World Cup 2019 trophy and be called the best Tag Team in the World. Last year, WWE hosted the World Cup for singles competitors where Shane McMahon became the first World Cup Winner. This year, the format is changed to a tag team. 20-Man Battle Royal

A Battle Royal was announced for Crown Jewel 2019(probably for kick-off show), and the winner of the match will get a title shot against WWE United States Champion AJ Styles.

AJ Styles vs Winner of 20-Man Battle Royal – WWE United States Championship

Storyline- AJ Styles will be defending the WWE United States Championship against the winner of 20 Men Battle Royal. The following WWE Superstars are going to participate in the Battle Royal: WWE 24/7 Champion Sunil Singh, Mojo Rawley, Erick Rowan, R-Truth, Sin Cara, The Brian Kendrick, Titus O’Neil, Tony Nese, Akira Tozawa, Shelton Benjamin, Apollo Crews, Buddy Murphy, Andrade, Drake Maverick, Eric Young, Luke Harper, Cedric Alexander, Heath Slater, Humberto Carrillo, No Way Jose.
