Charlotte Flair retained the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WWE WrestleMania 38 Night 1 against Ronda Rousey.

The match was quite physical as both the competitors tried several submission maneuvers to win the match. They even locked an ankle lock on each other.

Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair took each other to their limits, but in the end, Charlotte walked out of the ring with the title around her waist.

In the ending moments, Charlotte Flair hit Ronda with the Natural Selection but the latter kicked out. Charlotte tried to lock Figure-Four lock one more time but it was countered by Ronda Rousey. However, Charlotte took the referee away with her.

When the referee was down, Rousey locked the armbar and Charlotte tapped out. Since the ref didn’t see it, Rousey went to wake him up, but then Charlotte connected the big boot and secured the pinfall to retain her SmackDown Women’s title.

Ronda Rousey made a surprise return at Royal Rumble 2022 PPV after losing her title at WrestleMania 35. She won the women’s Royal Rumble match and earned the opportunity to face the champion of her choice at the Showcase of the Immortals.

On the following episode of Raw, she confronted Becky Lynch, but on SmackDown, she announced that she would challenge Charlotte Flair for her SmackDown women’s title at WrestleMania 38.

During the build-up, Ronda Rousey was brutally attacked several times by the Queens. Hence, the baddest woman on the planet stated she would rip Charlotte’s arm apart or she would tap out at the grandest stage of them all.

Charlotte did tap out but the official was down and didn’t see it, and hence Ronda failed to win the match.
