Carmella Replaces Ripley, US Title Match Added to Money in the Bank
A new match is added to WWE Money in the Bank 2022 event.
Theory will defend the WWE United States Championship against Bobby Lashley.
After their confrontation in the last few weeks, Theory and Lashley faced off in a Pose Down challenge. Lashley was announced the winner of the segment based on the crowd reaction. Austin responded by throwing baby oil in Lashley’s eyes and attacking him. This week, Lashley returned the favour in the same manner and laid out Theory with a spear.
Later, Theory announced that he was ready to give Lashley a title shot if he beats three wrestlers in a Gauntlet match. Lashley went on to beat Chad Gable, Otis and Theory himself in the Gauntlet match to earn his title shot at Money in the Bank.
Rhea Ripley earlier became the #1 contender for RAW Women’s Championship two weeks back. However, RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair announced this week that Ripley is not cleared for action and she will face a new challenger.
Carmella defeated Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch and Asuka in a fatal 5-way match to get the title shot at Money in the Bank.
Also, Asuka and Omos qualified for men’s and women’s ladder matches at Money in the Bank.
