Asuka and Alexa Bliss made a triumphant return to WWE RAW this week as they won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Bliss and Asuka were put on the shelf with a storyline injury after an attack from Damage CTRl before Extreme Rules event. The pair was away from WWE TV since then.
However, they made a return this week on RAW to save WWE RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair from another attack from Damage CTRL. After the save, Bliss and Asuka challenged WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky from Damage CTRL, for a title match. The match was made official later in the show.
Bayley and Bianca Belair were in either corner during the main event tag team titles match. After a back-and-forth match, Asuka had Sky in an armbar and got a tapout. Bayley distracted the referee at that point and the referee did not see the tapout. Bianca then tackled Bayley to the timekeeper’s area before Bayley hit her with Bayley-to-Belly to through a table in the crowd.
Asuka then avoided an Over the Moonsault from Sky and Alexa Bliss tagged in to hit Twisted Bliss on Sky to get the pin and the win for the titles.
This is the third reign as the women’s tag team champions for both Asuka and Alexa Bliss. Bliss had previously been the champion with Nikki Cross on two occasions in 2019 and 2020. Asuka first won the title with Kairi Sane in 2019 before another title reign with Charlotte Flair in late 2020.
Bliss and Asuka were previously eliminated by Kai and Sky in the semifinal of WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament in August. Damage CTRL also defeated the team of Bliss, Asuka and Belair in a trios match Clash at the Castle event.
Damage CTRL will now have a chance to win the titles as Bayley challenge Bianca Belair in the Last Woman Standing match for WWE RAW Women’s Championship at Crown Jewel 2022 event on Saturday.
