Aljamain Sterling vs TJ Dillashaw is in the Works for UFC 279
UFC Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling will likely defend his title against TJ Dillashaw at UFC 279 on September 10 later this year.
MMA Junkie reported that the contracts for this bout have already been issued. However, the promotion hasn’t announced this bout officially.
UFC 279 PPV event is yet to get a location or venue. But, it is likely that the Sterling vs Dillashaw bantamweight title bout will headline the event.
Aljamain Sterling is on a seven-fight winning streak that includes two consecutive wins over the former champion Petr Yan. Sterling won the title by DQ at UFC 259 but then he defeated Yan again via split decision at UFC 273 and proved that he is worthy of being a champion.
On the other hand, TJ Dillashaw is coming off a split decision win against Cory Sandhagen. Before that, he was defeated by Henry Cejudo back in 2019. Dillashaw recently healed from his knee injury, and now he is training at his full capacity to face Aljamain Sterling later this year at UFC 279.
