Noel Mikaelyan will get a chance at Ilunga Makabu’s WBC cruiserweight next year.
It has been officially announced that Ilunga Junior Makabu would defend his WBC title against Noel Mikaelyan on January 21, 2023, at the Casino Miami in Miami, Florida.
The title of this card is “Let Freedom Ring! Clash of the Champions.” Mikaelyan is WBC International and WBC Silver cruiserweight champion, whereas Makabu Jr is the WBC cruiserweight champion, hence the title.
Ilunga Makabu Junior hasn’t lost a match since 2016. His last defeat came against Tony Bellew, who stopped him in the third round. Makabu is on a ten-fight winning streak and is coming off a split-decision victory against Thabiso Mchunu.
On the other hand, Noel Mikaelyan is on a three-fight winning streak. He faced his last defeat back in 2018 against Mairis Briedis. Mikaelyan is coming off a unanimous decision win against Youri Kalenga.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Mikaelyan will be able to dethrone Ilunga Junior Makabu on January 21 or not.
