Matchroom Boxing won the purse bid of the WBC light heavyweight final eliminator between top-ranked boxers Callum Smith and Mathieu Bauderlique.

WBC scheduled two purse bids and the second one was for super lightweight champion Josh Taylor and his mandatory challenger Josh Zepeda. However, it went moot because Taylor ditched his title at the last moment.

Matchroom presented a winning offer of $1,069,000 and walked away with the rights of the Callum Smith vs Mathieu Bauderlique light heavyweight bout.

Eddie Hearn previously revealed that he wants to set Callum Smith’s next bout in the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua on August 20. Hence, there is a possibility that the final eliminator will take place on this very date.

The winner of the light heavyweight bout will get a shot against Artur Beterbiev. However, he would have to wait until Beterbiev faces Anthony Yarde or Dmitry Bivol.
