WWE SmackDown Live Results and Updates- 16 April 2019

SmackDown will be live on 16 April 2019 from Bell Center in Montreal, Canada for the second part of this year’s Superstar Shakeup. Vince McMahon will announce a major star for SmackDown but apart from that there is very little you will get from the preview. Please keep refreshing the page for the latest updates.

#1 The Kevin Owens Show with Kofi Kingston!

The Show will open with the hometown star’s Kevin Owens Show. KO is speaking in the native language and gets a huge pop from the crowd. He says that Mr. McMahon is about to announce the biggest superstar of the SmackDown but he is the biggest star of SmackDown. His guest for the night is the WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. Only Xavier Woods is coming with him. No Big E who is out injured. KO congratulates Kofi for the history-making win at WrestleMania. Kofi also thanks KO and the crowd. Woods gets worked up regarding Big E and Superstar Shakeup. KO refers to himself as Big ‘O’ and asks to become a member of the New Day since Big E is not there. Owens told them that since Kofi has the WWE Title on him, they might need backup more than ever. Woods and Kofi ask ‘Big O’ if he ready for all the Cereal tasting, Pancake throwing, Video game tournaments, and the dance moves. When Owens agrees to all of that and moves his hips in classic Big E fashion in response. They ask the crowd about it and crowd approves. Kofi does the honor of putting a crop top over KO and put a unicorn horn over his head.

Finn Balor has moved to SmackDown and he will have his first match at the brand next.

#2 Finn Balor vs (Mustafa) Ali

Shoulder tackle from Balor to start and puts the headlock. Ali comes back with a dropkick and grounds Balor. They grapple for some time on the ground. Then Balor meets Ali at the rope with his elbow. Balor, with a shoulder stretch, keeps Ali grounded. Ali gets up and sends Balor out with a hurricanrana. He hits a basement dropkick and then hits a suicide dive at the ringside as we head to the break.
Balor with a kick in the gut as we come back. He then hits a series of chops in the corner until Ali hits an overhead kick at the apron. Ali then hits some chops but Balor comes back with swing blade only to eat a superkick for Ali. Balor avoids a moonsault and hits double leg stomp. He goes to the top but Ali gets there and hits a superplex to get a near fall. Balor avoids Ali’s finisher splash and dropkicks Ali. He then hits the Coup de Grace to get the win.

Backstage, Kofi and Woods are asking KO to eat a plate full of pancakes in under 5 minutes for the initiation ceremony to become the member of the New Day.
R Truth and Carmella come out dancing as Carmella will next face Charlotte Flair.
Back from the break, KO completes the plate of pancakes as the clock runs down the 5 minutes.

#3 Carmella vs Charlotte Flair

Flair grabs Mella by the hair and whips her to the mat right away. She yells that she hates Canada to get a little heat. Mella hits a kick in the gut and then a kick on the face. Charlotte moves out of the ring and Mella follows her. Flair sends Mella into the barricade. Mella quickly recovers and dives on Charlotte. She brings Charlotte into the ring for a near-fall. Carmella hits Charlotte Flair with a Bronco Buster in the Corner, but Charlotte sends Carmella out of the ring with a huge Big Boot.
Flair in control until Carmella reverses her Scoop Slam and drops her. Charlotte hits a dragon screw over the middle rope to damage Carmella’s knee. Charlotte throws her into the barricade. Mella avoids a moonsault and hits a superkick. Charlotte hits a chop block before locking in the Figure Eight for the submission victory.
Winner- Charlotte Flair with a submission

As Truth checks on Mella, Lars Sullivan comes out. He stares at Mella and Truth comes between them to asks him to go back. Truth starts unloading on Sullivan but he no sells the corkscrew driver and slams Truth in the middle. He again steps towards Mella but she gets outside the ring with the referee helping her. Sullivan then hits the running powerbomb on Truth.

#4 SmackDown Women’s Division gets stocked up

The Man comes out after the break. Becky 2 Belts chants start as she reminds us that she beat Ronda and Charlotte at WrestleMania because it sounds so good. Becky says she is ready for all opponents, and she will take on anyone who challenges her and she is interrupted by Ember Moon. Moon comes into the ring and is about to put out a challenge for Becky when Bayley enters. Bayley also comes into the ring and recounts her journey during the Women’s Evolution. She also mentions that she is in SmackDown as a singles competitor. She and Becky were about to get into each other when the IIconics enter. They are mocking Bayley for taking the tag titles from her. They also tell Becky that their two titles are better than Becky’s when Paige comes out at the entrance to introduce the new tag team that she promised. Paige is interrupted by Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Paige makes it clear she’s not here to represent them. Instead, she has two revolutionary women to introduce what she calls, the next WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions as Asuka and Kairi Sane enters. Becky leaves the ring as others start to brawl.

#5 Asuka, Kairi Sane, Bayley and Ember Moon vs The IIconics, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose

As we return break, the match is already in progress. Everyone takes a turn on offense and defense. The crowd lights up when Asuka and Deville square off. Asuka hits Mandy Rose with quite the kick and follows it up with a Hip Attack. Kairi Sane tags in and hits her with a Scissors Kick. Bayley hits a Crossbody Suicide Dive on Deville and Rose on the outside! Ember Moon continues and takes out everyone on the outside.
Bayley sends Peyton Royce to the outside and tries for a tag, but Royce stops her. Asuka tags and gets in, and takes out all the women on the rope. Asuka almost had the pin, but it is broken up by Mandy Rose. Everyone gets a chance to hit someone else with a big move leading to Sane hitting the InSane Elbow for the pin and the win.

The Hardy Boyz are still feeling the effects of Lars Sullivan but remind us that they are new SmackDown Tag Team Champions. Matt says that people forget the greatness of the Hardys but they are the greatest tag team in the world in every time and space.
Kofi and Woods are asking Owens to introduce them in the way Big E use to do. They are not happy with his first couple of attempt but he gets it right in the third time.
Buddy Murphy appears on the Titantron and announces that he will join SmackDown.

#6 Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Kevin Owens vs Rusev, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro

Woods hits Rusev with a chop that has almost no impact on the big man. The crowd is singing something as Woods hits the Honor Roll. Nakamura tags in and gets taken down by a double stomp from Kofi for a near fall. Owens joins in on the Unicorn Stampede with Woods and Kingston. Xavier whips Owens for him to hit the cannonball. Cesaro comes in and hits Woods with an uppercut. He dumps Woods over the top rope so Rusev and Nakamura can double team him.
Woods nails Shin with a missile dropkick and makes the hot tag to Kofi who springboards in to take down Cesaro. He hits the SOS on Cesaro for a two count. Cesaro grabs his legs and swings him around several times before putting him in the Sharpshooter. Owens breaks it up with a superkick and everyone starts getting involved. KO gets the tag and he propels Kofi over the top rope onto everyone. Kofi hits the trouble in paradise, KO hits the stunner to pin Rusev.

#7 And the Biggest Acquisition for SmackDown is!

Mr. McMahon comes out to announce the biggest acquisition for SmackDown. He says this person is charismatic and talented and he is the future of SmackDown and WWE! He calls out Elias. Elias tells McMahon that he has the pulse of what people want. The crowd starts chanting something in French and Elias tells them he does not know the language. He is not happy to be in Montreal and starts insulting them. He starts playing his guitar when Roman Reigns’ music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Roman nails Elias with a Superman Punch. Mr. McMahon gets angry and tells Reigns to leave. Roman also hits him with the Superman Punch and says SmackDown is his yard now before posing for the crowd. He was heading back but come back to the ring one last time to hit a spear on Elias.
