Women’s Tag Team Championship match announced for WrestleMania
Sasha Banks and Bayley(the Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection) will defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Title at WrestleMania this year in a fatal 4-way match against Beth Pheonix and Natalya(The Divas of the Doom), Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka(The Samoan Slaughterhouse) and Peyton Joyce and Billie Key(The IIconics).
Ever since the introduction of the Women’s Tag Team championship, it was announced that it will be defended across all the brands RAW, SmackDown and NXT. A Fatal 4-Way match was always speculated for the championship at WrestleMania but with a challenger from each of the three brands. However, the plans for Beth Pheonix to come out of the retirement for a WrestleMania match for the title changed the plans it seems.
At Fastlane, Nia and Tamina attacked Sasha and Bayley even after they defeated them. Beth Pheonix, the guest commentator for the match, stood up to the Samoans which also lead to Natalya coming out to help her out and reunion of the Divas of the Doom. At RAW episodes since then, all three teams kept getting involved with each other while Pheonix also announced her wish for a title match at WrestleMania amid the new Women Revolution in WWE.
The IIconics also accused Sasha and Bayley of neglecting SmackDown brand which lead to the champions going to SmackDown to face them. The IIconics earned a surprise victory over them which made them a title contenders. The match was also confirmed by the IIconics through a promo on last night at SmackDown.
With the confirmation of this match, the match count for this year’s WrestleMania has reached 13 with Women’s Battle Royal and RAW Tag Team match expected to be added to the list. You can check the full match card for WrestleMania 35 here.
