A new stipulation is added to Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins Universal Championship match at WWE Royal Rumble 2022.
SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos are barred from ringside at the event during Roman’s match.
This week at SmackDown, The Bloodline was celebrating Roman Reigns’ record-breaking Universal title reign. The Tribal Chief became the longest-reigning Universal Champion by surpassing Brock Lesnar’s 504 days title reign. They were soon interrupted by Seth Freakin’ Rollins. Rollins told Roman that he has achieved this record only with continuous help from The Usos. He argued that Roman always need others to do his dirty work.
Rollins also name-dropped AEW Star and former Shield member Jon Moxley. Rollins said that it was him and Jon Moxley during their Shield days that held him up. Rollins also started a U-Sos chant and the crowd also joined him soon. Rollins then challenged The Usos for a tag team match, while adding that if he wins, The Usos will be barred from the ringside at their match Royal Rumble.
While The Head of the Table did not respond to the challenge, Jey Uso accepted the proposal and asked who could possibly be Rollins’ partner. The next second, Kevin Owens’ music hit and he came out. Owens said, referring to his feud with Owens at last year’s Rumble, if it was not for the Usos, he would have become the longest reigning Universal Champion. Roman then added a stipulation that if Rollins & Owens lose to the Usos, then Rollins will have to forfeit his title shot.
In the main event match, Rollins had Jimmy Uso down in the ring with a stomp. Just then, Roman attacked Rollins with a Superman punch to cause a disqualification. Rollins and Owens were declared the winners, and WWE officially confirmed that the Usos will be barred from the ringside.
WWE Royal Rumble 2022 takes place on January 29 from The Dome at America’s Center in St. Loius, MO.
