According to several reports, WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold “Steve Austin” might return at WrestleMania 38 to face Kevin Owens.
A report from Fightful Select states that WWE has made efforts towards bringing in Austin for a match at WrestleMania 38. There is no clarity whether Austin is interested in the match.
Dave Meltzer reported the same but he is also not sure whether it is a done deal or not. According to him, there is a belief backstage that this match will actually take place at the grandest stage of them all. Meltzer also added that WWE is planning this match only in order to boost the ticket sales for WrestleMania 38.
WrestleMania 38 will take place in Austin’s home state of Texas. Hence, Stone Cold’s in-ring return at the show later this year in April will be a big attraction for the event. He has already lent his voice in the promo for the event earlier.
It is also believed that Austin’s opponent will be none other than Kevin Owens. On the latest episode of WWE RAW, Owens cut a promo insulting the people of Texas. It is believed that it is a storyline to get Austin involved in a storyline with Owens.
Stone Cold Steve Austin hasn’t wrestled since his loss against The Rock at WrestleMania 19. He had a serious neck injury and several knee injuries which forced him to retire from the in-ring competition.
