CM Punk will be headlining AEW All Out 2022 PPV in hometown Chicago as he challenges Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship.

The match was made official by AEW after Punk signed an open contract put forward by Jon Moxley.

CM Punk won the AEW World title at Double or Nothing PPV earlier this year. However, he got an injured foot and had to undergo surgery. AEW then booked an interim World title match at Forbidden Door PPV, where Jon Moxley defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to win the title. As Punk returned three weeks back, a title unification match was booked for last week on Dynamite.

Punk seemingly injured his foot once again as he went for a high kick during the match. And Moxley capitalized on it to defeat him in around 3 minutes to become the Undisputed World Champion. This week, Moxley came out and dropped a contract for his title defense at All Out, and asked anyone to pick it up to sign up for the match.

After Moxley left, AEW Producer and CM Punk’s former coach Ace Steel picked up the contract. Later in the show, CM Punk came out to express his disappointment in losing the title unification match last week and letting the fans down. Ace Steel then walked out and motivated(even slapped) Punk to not give up and handed him the open contract.

Punk then cut a passionate promo after getting into the crowd and signed the contract. Moxley also returned further down the line in the show for a counter promo and once again fired a warning for Punk to expect a display of brutality and glorious pro-wrestling violence.

AEW All Out takes place on September 4, 2022, at NOW Arena in Chicago, IL.
